Part Number: OEM13035993
Manufacturer Part Number: WR23X10582

This temperature sensor monitors internal refrigerator temperatures and relays them to the control, helping the unit maintain consistent cooling. Replacing a failed sensor restores accurate temperature regulation and more reliable operation. What it does:

  • Measures compartment or evaporator temperature and sends a resistance signal to the control board
  • Helps the control modulate compressor and fan run times for proper cooling
  • Typical failure signs: sections too warm or too cold, erratic temperatures, or running longer than normal
  • Causes inaccurate temperature readings compared to setpoints
What's included:
  • 1 temperature sensor assembly
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing
  • Access the sensor in the affected section; release any cover/clip and unplug the connector
  • Route the new sensor's wiring like the original and ensure it's fully seated in its holder or clip
  • Restore power and allow up to 24 hours for temperatures to stabilize

Questions & Answers

For Ge Temperature Sensor (Thermistor Assembly) (Part Number: OEM13035993)

Steve, The best option would be to purchase a multi meter TJMA-DM1 and test the resistances and circuitry of the heater, thermostat, and sensor. it will be less expensive in the long run, and you'll have a "tool" to use around the house or car, etc. You'll also want to check a couple of other things once you're inside the evaporator cover. After you have determined what component you need, also check to make sure the WR51X10105 defrost drain clip is attached to the bottom of the heater and is positioned in the defrost drain opening, and check to make sure the drain tube inside the wall isn't clogged with debris( hot water and a turkey baster works pretty well just be ready to clean up the water). Then check and make sure all the door gaskets are sealing against the front flange of the openings, especially along the bottom of the doors.

Patrick, You will want to check to see if there is 120 vac getting to the overload relay. If there is then the relay will most likely be the issue with the unit.

Robert, The auto damper assembly WR09X10050 / WR09X10050 DAMPER & GASKET ASSY is the more likely problem. It's probably "stuck" open, or the switch has failed. Fortunately, the assembly includes the refrigerator thermistor, so you'll have everything you need to repair the refrigerator.

Robert, You will want to test the temperature sensor WR23X10582 in the refrigerator compartment. The resistance at room temp should be 5K ohms. If the resistance is not correct then the sensor would need to be replaced.

Kh for Model Number Pfss6pkxbss GE Profile 25.8 French Door

Symptoms: - Refrigerator getting cold. - Freezer evaporator coil not getting cold. - Fans in freezer and Compressor are running non-stop. - Checked that freezer thermostat has continuity. - Drains to freezer and fridge are clear. - A week ago noticed freezer wasn't fully freezing. Now not getting cold at tall. BTW - When I took the panel off to check the drain tubes I found a small red plastic mushroom shaped plastic piece in the tray (bottom right). Do you know where this came from?

KH, Based on the information and symptoms of the unit this issue would most likely be a sealed system issue in which there is either a restriction or a leak of refrigerant in the sealed system. You would want to contact a service technician for this type of issue.

Bill for Model Number GFSF6KKXBBB

GE Profile Model GFSF6KKXBBB. Fresh food fan and upper right corner under the evaporator cover are freezing up about every two weeks. There is no ice near the drain. Some water accumulates under the fresh food drawers. I measured the evaporator thermistor in in 68 deg room and it read 12.2Kohms. I expect about half that. Also, how important is the condition of the styrofoam around the evaporator cover? Mine has some small chunks missing and is loosely held together with masking tape. Could this contribute to the freezing up?

Hello Bill. It sounds like the sealed system is failing and will need to be repaired on the unit. You will need an HVAC tech to repair the unit.

Hello Kay, The sensors could be out of tolerance or the control could have an issue. I would first pull the back wall out to observe the frost pattern. If there is an iceball where the Freon line enter the evaporator compartment, there has been a Freon loss. If the frost does not fully cover the coils and the bottom half is clear with no frost, you may have a sealed system restriction. Another symptom of a sealed system restriction is that the compressor will be almost too hot to hold your hand to. Another thing to check is the condenser coils to see if they need to be cleaned and make sure the condenser fan motor WR60X10256 is running full speed.

Richard, You will want to test the temperature sensors for the unit to make sure that they are within specifications. The resistances should be as follows. At room temp of 77 degrees the resistance would be 5K ohms, at 37 degrees 14.4K ohms and at 0 degrees 42.2K ohms.

Jordan, The defrost drain freezing up would indicate that the drain is clogged up in which you will need to clear the ice and flush the drain with hot water.
