For Ge Compressor Kit (Part Number: OEM15915687)

Riverside for Model Number TFX25KRCC WW

Our refrigerator GE side by side is no longer keeping things very cold even when we change the setting up to 9. The freezer is cold but not freezing. We have a home warranty in which we used and the service provider had a technician come out and looked at it. They said our coils were dirty and that was preventing the unit from having proper air flow and said it possibly could have caused damage to the compressor. They didn't test the compressor in any way and now the warranty company refuses to service the refrigerator. I cleaned out the coils with a brush and its been 3 days now since that occurred and the refrigerator and freezer are no better than before I cleaned the coils. Can anyone share their advice with me? Do I purchase a compressor? Does Freon have something to do with this?

Riverside, A compressor replacement or leak in the sealed system, is not a DIY'r repair, special tools, meters and recovery equipment. A couple of easy checks, open the freezer door, listen and feel for air movement from the freezer/evaporator fan. look on the back wall of the freezer for a frost or ice build up on the wall, indicating a defrost problem or inoperative fan. Also check and insure both doors are closing and sealing properly. Good Luck and Thanks

Tony for Model Number GE GSS25JFMCWW

My GE Refrigerator made in 2002 is not cooling. Only the beginning two foot coil of the evaporator is icy. The rest of the coil is warm. It did cycle through defrost period. The heater is working. I am wondering which component is bad. Thermositor, compressor relay or overload, refrigerant level, or compressor? If the compressor is bad or refrigerant level is low, can I DIY or I have to get a repairman to fix it. Does your compressor parts include dryer? Thanks.

Tony, Your basic description, indicates to me, you have a very low charge, or a partial restriction in the sealed system. Did you recently move the refrigerator ? Yes, compressor kits include a filter dryer, but that would require special tools, meters and a AHAM certificate to acquire the refrigerant and perform the needed repairs. Unfortunately, you're going to need a registerred refrigerator repair servicer.

jDizzle, Yes, you should have 120 VAC at the compressor wires, not 12.5 VAC, apparently you do have a bad mother board WR55X10942C Thanks and Good Luck.

jDizzle, based on the model and part number, you have the correct part number for that particular refrigerator. It is not a DC compressor, based on the label of the part it's rated for 115 V 60 HZ power source. Any speed or voltage conversions would be performed by an inverter board, or the "mother board" located on the back of the refrigerator. Hope this was helpful and Thanks for the inquiry.

Hello David. If the compressor is making a loud banging noise, then you will need to change the compressor. There is not a part to repair this, other than the compressor. Hope this helps.

The piston rings are not available for purchase. You would have to purchase a new compressor.
