Tim November 30, 2021 for Model Number GTS22JBPDRWW Recently, our freezer section started frosting up significantly and gets colder than usual. Frost builds up on products in the freezer and frozen droplets form on the top ceiling inside. I replaced the defrost timer and defrost bi-metal thermostat, and the issue still persisted. I also tested other components and the defrost heater, condenser fan, and evaporator fan are working. I made sure the drain tube is clear and water drains properly, also the gaskets seals along the fresh food and freezer are good. I also cleaned the condenser coils. None of this resolved the issue of frosting. I'm wondering if a bad control temperature component could be causing this?
1 Answer Tim, as the frost would be occurring from moisture getting into the freezer, it would be recommended that a piece of paper (dollar size) is used by closing the freezer door seal onto the paper and sliding the paper out. This would be done through the entire seal to identify if there is a small amount of resistance or not. If there is not resistance in a spot, the door gasket is not fully sealed in that location. The corners of the cabin would need to be inspected as well to ensure there is not a spot that could allow air to leak through. The temperatures in the freezer and refrigerator can be monitored and should be no more than 4 to 5 degrees from the set temperature before the unit calls for cold air. Read More...
Ken June 07, 2020 for Model Number GTL22JBPBRBS Have a GE GTL22JBPBRBS refrigerator. Replaced the condenser motor as it was squeaking very loud. Also replaced the defrost timer because the refrigerator was not getting cold unless the temp control knob was turned up to 9. Currently, inside the Freezer frosts up but the fan and evap do not. Fan runs fine. The defrost heater does get red. Freezer temp is good, but fridge temp is about 55.
1 Answer Ken, Based on the information provided the FF temps are controlled by the damper assembly. I would check the damper to see if it is opening properly and is not frozen up.WR02X10734 Read More...
Joey B May 03, 2017 I need a temp control I can mount without having to attach capillary tube on a coil.
Connie April 17, 2017 for Model Number GTS22WPC My refrigerator is not cool but the freezer is working properly. I noticed that on the temperature control the freezer is illuminated while the refrigerator is not illuminated. Could that indicate a problem with the temperature control?
1 Answer Connie, The temp control will not cause the unit to not cool in the refrigerator section and you will want to look at the evaporator fan not running or the unit not defrosting as being the issue with the unit. Read More...

Bruce November 07, 2015 for Model Number sts221cparww The freezer keeps items frozen but it is frosting up and the refrigerator section is not cooling. Wondered if it was the thermostat or some other part. Any help would be appreciated.
1 Answer Bruce, You will want to check the defrost heater for continuity. If there is no continuity then the heater would need replaced. Also check the thermistor resistance. The resistance should be 5K ohms at room temp of 77 degrees, 14.4K ohms at 36 degrees and 42.2K ohms at 0 degrees. If the thermistor is out of range then replace the thermistor. If both of these check ok then test the limiter for continuity which it should have. If all checks ok then replace the control board. Read More...
Ed March 13, 2014 for Model Number Gts22jbpbrww Would be nice to have instructions ,how to instill temperature control thermostat on GE refrigerators ,the probe do I have to extend it ,or will it work curled up like in package? Thanks, ED.
1 Answer Hello Ed. No, you will unroll the cap tube and install it in the same location as the old cap tube. You need to remove the screws and drop the control panel down to access and replace the part. Make sure you disconnect the power to the unit before attempting the repair. Read More...
