Dave November 19, 2018 for Model Number FUF20DPARWH Can the timer be advanced manually? I suspect it's not running, but would like to see if I can get the compressor to come on by advancing the timer manually. Thx.
2 Answers Dave, Yes you can manually advance the defrost timer. You can usually use a coin or flat blade screwdriver. Turn the center escapement clockwise until you hear a click, turn it slowly until you hear another click, then the timer should be in the cooling mode amd the compressor should start to run. Thomas December 26, 2016 for Model Number FUF17DACRWH My GE upright freezer (FUF17DACRWH) isn't very cold. I have been told that once I verify that: a) the condenser coils are clean, b) the evaporator fan motor functions correctly, c) the start relay works correctly (continuity check), the next item to check is the defrost system. I am trying to determine if the defrost heater/timer functions correctly. However, I do not know which terminals to ensure that the defrost heater has continuity. The connector has a white wire, an orange wire, a blue wire, and two yellow wires that come into a common terminal. Which terminals on the Timer-Defrost GE Part # WR09X10154 should have continuity between them? Thanks for the help.
1 Answer Thomas, Unfortunately we do not have wiring on the unit to be able to assist properly. If the fans are running and the coils on the evaporator are not impacted with ice then the issue will not be the timer. You can test the heater by removing the rear cover of the freezer compartment. Check the coils for being impacted with ice. Read More...
