Tammy, The if the knob is damaged it will be hard to turn the dial without it. If the knob is ok and it just will not turn the dial then it sounds like the timer gears are binding and the timer would need to be replaced.

Mad, Don't forget the compression ring WH2X650 for the new dial assembly. It'll be easier than trying to save or find the original. Good Luck and Thanks

Lewis for Model Number WHDSR209DAWW

The indicator ring for the timer is no longer connected to the timer knob, so they do not move(turn) in unison. I took apart the panel, and removed the clip that hold the knob to the timer shart, removed the timer and indicator ring, but cn find no signs of broken plastic or parts. I put all together again and the cycle indicator ring, PN=AP3207190 does not track with the knob as it should. Can you please help with any recomendations, I am stumped on this one. All else seems to work fine, the probelms is you have to manually move the indicator ring with the knob. Thank you ever so much

Hello Lewis. You will have to verify the shaft of the timer WH12X10296 is still okay. Also make sure the compression ring WH02X10093 and the dial is complete WH11X10033. The dial might have a hair line crack that does not allow it to work properly. Hope this helps!
