Jerry C. April 09, 2012 for Model Number DHDSR46GG2WW How do I replace the door switch on my dryer and what tools will I need?
1 Answer Hello Jerry, You will need a Phillips head screwdriver and a pair of needle nosed pliers. First and most important, discontinue the power supply to the unit by either turning the breaker off or unplugging the unit. Next, open the door and look straight up. There are two screws that hold the main top on. Remove these two screws and remove the top by lifting slightly and shifting it to the left. Now there are two screws, one on the left and one on the right you can see by looking down into the top. They screw in directly back toward you. Be careful not to drop them. The heads of these can use a Phillips or a square bit. Once these are out, lift the front panel slightly and pivot the front panel around, being careful of the wires. I never disconnect any as it is not necessary for this job. Now, to prevent miswiring, write down the color of the wires in the sequence they are connected for reassemblies' sake. Use the needle nosed pliers to remove the wires. Depress the tabs on the sides of the old door switch and it will come out. Reassembly is the exact reverse of the disassembly process. Read More...
Nana February 25, 2012 for Model Number DBXR463ED2WW If the door switch is not working properly, will the light still work? They appear to be connected/one unit.
1 Answer Hi Nana. It can be both ways that the door switch will close the circuit to the machine and not allow the light to come on if that part of the switch internal connections are not making correctly. Door switch is part # WE4M415. Make sure your light bulb part # WE05X20431 is good also. Thank You. Read More...

1 Answer Hello Peter. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. The switch should read closed on the NC and COM terminals and open on the NO and COM terminals. These will reverse when the switch is pressed. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
