Doug May 11, 2012 for Model Number GE dryer Ok, I talked to the part store in my local area, they said that I can replace the drum glides 2 white and 2 green in my GE dryer with just the 4 white ones, what is the difference between the two colors? They told me there is no difference, they said the green are thinner and wear out faster. Please give me the right answer, I know there must be a reason there are two different types of glides.
1 Answer Hello Doug, The two differently colored parts are made from different composites, which wear at different rates. If you don't use the correct ones, you are very likely to develop noises which are, in fact, indications of improper wear. In other words, the engineers tested these materials in practical applications and found that the recommended parts give the longest, quietest wear possible.
