Common causes of a bad guard rail bracket include regular wear and tear, damage from overloading the dishracks, or impact from heavy items. A faulty bracket can lead to instability and difficulty in moving the dishracks, which can affect the dishwasher's functionality.

Symptoms of a bad guard rail bracket include:

  • Difficulty sliding the dishracks in and out
  • The dishracks derailing or coming off track
  • Visible cracks or damage to the bracket
  • Uneven or wobbly movement of the dishracks

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

The manufacturer has no information on this but I found a picture of the outside of the unit with the insulation off and you can see the four screws that hold the roller assemblies in place. In light of this information, I would recommend to pull the unit out about one foot from it,s installed position to access the screws.

Hello Pat! You will need to remove the end caps at each end of the guide rail. Once those are remove pull out the rack and remove the two end caps at the other end of the guide rail. Inspect the part to see if there are any screws and if so, remove the screws. Remove screws holding the rollers in place. You will install the parts in reverse order. Hope this information helps you. Thanks!
