Mayer Plonka September 02, 2020 for Model Number GDRS3KBYCRSS Hi, I am trying to figure out if I can add a automatic ice maker to my GE Freezer. I was told to follow the label on the back which say IM-6 or IM-4A. Supposedly IM-6D is the newer model to replace those but when watching a video or seeing pictures it looks totally different then what my freezer requires. Thank you for your help.
Joeizme July 13, 2020 for Model Number GTS16DTHMRWW Will this kit fit my refrigerator as a new install? Also, will it include the appropriate plug adapter for this model, or will I need to buy an adapter? Lastly, I don't see the bail arm in any of the pictures and one of the videos said that you had to put your old bail arm on. I, of course, don't have an old bail arm, as this is a new install. Is it included?
1 Answer Hello Joeizme, the correct service replacement ice maker as per the manufacturer for your model is part WR30X10093. It includes a wire harness adapter if needed and the bail arm is part of the ice maker. Read More...
Kevin April 26, 2020 for Model Number GTS18FBMERWW I would really like to put an icemaker in my GE GTS18FBMERWW fridge. I can't seem to figure out if there is one that will work. There is not information on the back of the fridge regarding what model I should install. It seem to me that the IM6D works in many GTS18 models. It is listed a not compatible for my fridge. Is there a reason it would not work in mine? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Kevin, according to the manufacturer, the original add-on ice maker kit has been subbed to this kit IM6D. Read More...

Phil G. February 25, 2020 GE repairman has replaced two full kits. And under no warranty I have replaced two full kits. All within three years !!! My guestion is none of these units last more than one year. I've been using ice cube trays for six months hoping for a new model would come out. When first installed the unit ran perfect until within the year than just stopped working! Any ideas ?? would help !!!
1 Answer Phil, if you purchased the IM6D / IM6D, you have the newest part available, secondly, we need a model number of your refrigerator, so we can point out what wires and what terminal pins to check for resistances and/or voltages. Since this should be a "bottom mount" refrigerator, check the freezer drawer light switch for proper circuitry and operation. In the meantime check to make sure the fill tube isn't frozen, and you have proper water supply to the fill valve connection and the water supply isn't routed through an "RO" filter system. Get us a model number and we can direct you to the electrical checks to make. Thanks, Read More...
1 Answer Jeff, this kit will work but it will also need the adapter WR29X10049 to be able to plug into the ice maker plug for your model. Read More...

John January 09, 2019 for Model Number PDSE5NBWDSS Hello, I would like to add a icemaker to my PDSE5NBWDSS model. I see that the IMD6 is the current version of IM4A that was listed in the original spec sheet. Do I need additional parts (except the external hose) or is the IM6D sufficient? Regards, John
1 Answer John, the IM6D kit should have everything you need with the exception of the supply hose so you should be able to get the icemaker installed without needing any extra parts. Read More...
Brian November 30, 2018 for Model Number ICE Maker ? My ice maker seems to fill too overfill with water and drip down into the ice bucket. The particular model I have does not have a +/- adjustment option. Questions: 1)This is a general 'how does it work' question. With no adjustment option, how does the ice maker know when to stop filling? It seems like there would need to be either an adjustment screw, or a pressure sensor to determine how much water would be needed but I don't believe either has it. Since some homes have different water pressure than others, the flow rate would be different. I was looking at a replacement, e.g., the im-d6, but it doesn't appear to have an adjustment either. How does it regulate the amount of water for each cycle? I don't want to buy another one and have the same problem. Thanks very much for helping me understand how these things work.
1 Answer Brian, The way that the icemaker fills with water and how much to fill is based on time fill. The unit will rotate quickly enough to get the water to stop filling. For the issue that you are having the thing you will want to check would be to see if the mold on the icemaker is peeling as this would require the icemaker to be replaced. If it is not then this could be the water valve not completely shutting off. Read More...
