Phil, if you purchased the IM6D / IM6D, you have the newest part available, secondly, we need a model number of your refrigerator, so we can point out what wires and what terminal pins to check for resistances and/or voltages. Since this should be a "bottom mount" refrigerator, check the freezer drawer light switch for proper circuitry and operation. In the meantime check to make sure the fill tube isn't frozen, and you have proper water supply to the fill valve connection and the water supply isn't routed through an "RO" filter system. Get us a model number and we can direct you to the electrical checks to make. Thanks,

Brian for Model Number ICE Maker ?

My ice maker seems to fill too overfill with water and drip down into the ice bucket. The particular model I have does not have a +/- adjustment option. Questions: 1)This is a general 'how does it work' question. With no adjustment option, how does the ice maker know when to stop filling? It seems like there would need to be either an adjustment screw, or a pressure sensor to determine how much water would be needed but I don't believe either has it. Since some homes have different water pressure than others, the flow rate would be different. I was looking at a replacement, e.g., the im-d6, but it doesn't appear to have an adjustment either. How does it regulate the amount of water for each cycle? I don't want to buy another one and have the same problem. Thanks very much for helping me understand how these things work.

Brian, The way that the icemaker fills with water and how much to fill is based on time fill. The unit will rotate quickly enough to get the water to stop filling. For the issue that you are having the thing you will want to check would be to see if the mold on the icemaker is peeling as this would require the icemaker to be replaced. If it is not then this could be the water valve not completely shutting off.
