The Ice Maker is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It is a crucial component responsible for producing and dispensing fresh ice cubes, providing a convenient source of ice for your beverages and other needs. The ice maker is designed to automatically replenish the ice supply, ensuring you never run out.

Symptoms of a bad ice maker include:

  • Failure to produce ice or produce an insufficient amount
  • Ice cubes that are misshapen or stuck together
  • Water leaks or overflow from the ice maker area

Causes of a bad ice maker can range from issues with the water supply line or freezing mechanism, to mechanical failures or blockages within the ice maker itself. Over time, mineral buildup or freezing can also impact the ice maker's ability to function properly.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Dave, I don't think there are any instructions with the part. The ice maker will likely have two screws just above the mold where the ice is made.

Daniel, Based on the information provided the slide switch just holds the arm back to disengage the switch. If the arm is back and it continues to make ice then the switch in the icemaker is stuck closed and the ice maker will need to be replaced.

James, it is possible that the ice maker mold heater is not heating properly. This can cause ice to stick when in a harvest mode and sling out of the ice maker when being harvested. This can be caused by the ice maker motor contacts not completing a circuit properly, or by the heater starting to fail. In either scenario, the ice maker assembly WR30X35285 would need to be replaced.

Jim, with the door switch pressed in, the ice maker would need to be tested for 120VAC at the silver wire. If there is 120VAC and the ice maker fill tube is not blocked up with ice, the ice maker WR30X35285 has failed. If the fill tube is blocked up with ice, it will need to be cleared and the water valve WR57X33326 would need to be replaced. If there is not 120VAC and the freezer light is on, then the door switch WR23X21444 has failed. If the freezer light is not on when the switch is pressed, the switch would need to be tested for 120VAC at the silver wire. If 120VAC does not register, the switch has failed. If the switch is sending 120VAC but the ice maker is not receiving 120VAC, then there is a wiring issue.

Hello Platty, There should be 120Vac to the icemaker. For a proper diagnosis we would need you to please verify the model number from the units' I.D. tag since it will not come up for us as a valid model number. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
