For Ge Interface Customer As (Part Number: OEM11390625)

1 Answer

Walt, this error is going to indicate that the defrost heater relay is stuck in defrost mode. You will need to inspect the wiring going to the defrost heater for any bare wires. If the wires check good, then the issue is going to be with the main control board WR55X10942C.

I have a GE Profile Arctica side by side fridge which the Freezer and Refrigerator Warmer touch buttons are unresponsive as well as the Express Chill and SelectTemp buttons. However, the Colder buttons as well as ExpressThaw respond when pressed. As a result I cannot set the fridge to the right temperature which shows now at 34 degrees which is too cold for he fresh food section. I am suspecting that it is the Interface Customer Assembly part # WR55X10390 as the culprit but would like your expert opinion before I order the part.

1 Answer

Javier, Yes the user interface would most likely be the issue with the unit not responding to the up keypad and the express thaw buttons.

Ej, The interface panel would not cause the unit to not have lights or fans or the compressor. You will want to test for power into the main board. If there is no power then test to make sure that there is 120 vac at the wall outlet. If there is then check where the power cord connects to the unit to make sure that there is 120 vac and if there is not then it would be a faulty cord if there is then would be a harness issue in the cabinet. There is power either being lost or a faulty main control board.

Hello Robbie. You need to look for broken wires on the unit. If none are found, you will need to order and replace the main board on the unit.

I just replaced my ice maker unit after dealing with the incessant clicking and based on dozens of owners complaining of the same clicking noise. It made sense that it must be a plastic gear stripping or skipping, etc. But after replacing ice maker, the clicking continues - but nowhere near as long as 25-30 minutes. Now when clicking begins its 10 minutes at a time - tops. Is there anything else that can account for this clicking noise? (It's not relay or mainboard type of clicking but rather exactly as described - erratic, incessant clicking with no pattern per se.) I've taken a really close look and listen and here is what I can report: 1. "Sounds" like its coming from ice maker (maybe even freezer compartment panel?) 2. Sound heard with ice maker on or off. 3. Sound heard during ice ejection (arm rotating) BUT also when ice maker is off and arm is NOT rotating. 4. Ice size fine.. so no water inlet valve issue. 5. Very odd that clicking continues but not as long as it used to with new ice maker. Can the replacement ice maker possibly be "a little bit faulty" ?? I must also tell you that ended up taking apart my old ice maker and the plastic gears were perfectly intact. What other mechanical item could possibly cause this clicking sound so often blamed on the ice maker by so many of us? Is there anything mechanical just below the ice maker assembly associated with dispensing the ice from the bucket, that would cause such a noise? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I need to solve this one because its turned out to be a real caper. ha. Thanks!

Brian, You will want to pull the rear wall off the freezer compartment and check the evaporator fan motor as it can cause a ticking type noise. There could also be a ticking type noise while the unit is running and could be caused by the evaporator process in the evaporator. These are the 2 most likely causes especially when the icemaker is not turned on.

Digital control panel set for 37 for fridge but digital temp display shows temp as 44. Was going to replace the temp sensor in fridge cabin but used an instant read temp guage to comfirm That cabin temp is accurate. What would cause the control panel to be off? I would think if control panel/board is broke it would cease to work at all rather than readout being off by a few degrees. I can go ahead and replace the sensor for a few dollars but that doesnt make logical sense, and it doesnt seem economical to replace a 200 dollar control panel board for a digital readout thats off six digits. Any ideas to get readout in synch with actual temp?

1 Answer

Brian, Unfortunately there is no way to get the control board to sync with the actual temp of the unit. This issue would not be in the display board but would be with the main control board not sending a good signal to the display board or not reading the thermistor properly. You can check to make sure that the thermistor is not off. The resistance values for the thermistor would be 42.2K at 0 degrees, 12.7K ohms at 41 degrees, 10K ohms at 50 degrees and 5K ohms at 77 degrees.

When the fridge defrosts, the compressor does not come back on unless I unplug the unit and plug it back in. Then the fridge will operate as normal until the next defrost. I replaced the main board and it still does this. I also replaced the two temp sensors in the freezer section, the cap on the compressor, and the problem continues. The evap seems to freeze evenly so I don't think it's a sealed system problem. Could it be the interface that's the problem? ...or could it be the temp sensors in the fridge section?

1 Answer

Mark, You will want to make sure that you replaced the sensor that is on the evaporator coils on the upper left of the coil. This would typically be the issue with the unit not coming out of the defrost and if that has been changed then it is possible that the issue is that you received a defective control board.

William, Yes, it could be and probably is a fault in the interface digital display. Replacing the interface assembly would be a good idea and logical first step.

George, Most likely the main control board WR55X10942C of the unit has burnt out and needs to be replaced. The lights and nothing else working would be the indicator.
