Todd October 20, 2016 for Model Number zis360nri I had a ge tech replace the damper two years ago. It didn't fix the problem at first (overcold freezer, warm fridge) but then a couple days later it did. I have the same problem again. Does the climate control bin run the same damper? Seems like the first repair started working after t I ran a chill cycle.Could the damper be freezing? Gotta whole lot of condensation under the light panel. Any reason this damper would fail twice?
1 Answer Todd, The damper in the chill compartment would not cause overfreezing in the freezer and warm in the refrigerator. This would be the damper at the top of the unit that would cause this issue. It would be more likely if the chill compartment damper was bad that it would be broken and causing freezing in the refrigerator compartment. You would want to test the thermistor in the unit which at room temp of 77 degrees would be 5k ohms of resistance. If this checks ok then the damper would be the issue and would be part number WR49X10107. Read More...
Cheyla S. April 22, 2015 for Model Number ZISS480DRSS Fridge temperature is too low 28-30 even if it's set on 42. Technician told me the damper is damaged. I'm trying to buy the part online but can't find the part for model ziss480drss (GE web page said this model is no longer being manufactured). Would wr49x10107 work for my model? THANKS SO MUCH ON ADVANCE.

Mark June 08, 2013 for Model Number zis360nrj Related to my prior post is the damper assembly located on the bottom of this refrig? thanks
1 Answer Mark, The damper for this unit is located under the refrigerator top and would be accessed by removing the light cover and the panel where the light sit. Once this assembly is down, the damper would be located on the left side behind a stryofoam ducting. Read More...
Mark June 07, 2013 for Model Number zis360nrj monogram side by side The refrig. side keeps cooling to 22 degrees (set at 37). The research I've done suggests the damper is stuck in the open position. Will a defrost take care of problem, or do I need to replace the entire damper part. Many thanks for the help. -Mark
1 Answer Mark, You would want to replace the entire damper assembly as it may not just be the damper being stuck open but possibly the door being broken off the damper. Read More...
Richard February 26, 2013 for Model Number GE Monogram ZISS480D The temperature in the refrigerator keeps getting warmer while the temperature in the freezer keeps getting lower. I have used the temperature controls to try to correct this problem but I suspect this is a problem with the temperature baffle control. Am I correct and if so, what part number do I have to order? Do you have any instructions on how to disassemble the refrigerator to replace this part? Thanks for your help. Richard
1 Answer Hello Richard, You will want to check the damper for proper opening and closing. If the damper is not operating then you would want to replace it. Part number for the damper is WR60X10063. The damper is located in the upper section of the refrigerator compartment and upper part of refrigerator section will have to be disassembled to access it. Read More...
John January 15, 2013 for Model Number ZISS480DRBSS If I buy the damper WR49X10107 for this model do I need any other gaskets etc. Is the damper more likely a problem or is it more likely to be a thermocouple?
1 Answer John, You didn't mention an issue. But, it is more likely to be an issue in the damper assembly WR49X10107 than a thermistor. As long as you're careful and don't damage the foam block/air tunnel, you won't need any other parts. Read More...
Fred August 05, 2012 for Model Number ZIS480 How do you determine if the damper to the fresh food section is bad?
1 Answer Hello Fred. Test for power coming to the damper assembly WR49X10107. If there is power there, and the damper does not open, you will need to order and replace the damper assembly in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
