Connie March 22, 2013 I need to replace the start switch on my GE dryer and have found the part but do not know how to install it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Connie, This is not a difficult repair. Unplugging the machine will most likely be the hardest part of the repair. Once it is unplugged, pull the start knob off and remove the screws that hold the control panel cover on. The piece of the switch that protrudes to the side will be lifted with a small flat blade screwdriver so the entire switch assembly can be rotated. At about 1/4 turn, the switch assembly will be free of the control panel. Install the new switch by pushing it down flat and rotating in the opposite direction until it clicks into position. Remove the wires from the old switch and install them onto the new switch. Whether these wires get crossed or not doesn't matter. Re-install the control panel and the start knob, plug the unit back in, and test the unit for normal operation. Read More...

What is the difference as I have replaced the WEM4519 and the dryer will not run unless the rotary switch is held at the start position.Is it possible that this model has a motor start switch that engages or energizes the run winding on the motor from the rotary start switch?

Tall Paul January 07, 2013 for Model Number WE4M519 I am trying to replace a starter switch (part # WE4M519) on my GE dryer, and didn't label which wires were connected to the bad switch (and where) before disconnecting. I know the red wire goes on terminal # 2, but not sure if the black wire will go on the # 4 terminal next to the red? (both are copper color prongs). # 3 terminal is different color metal (gold) and below the other two. Does the brown wire connect here? Appreciate anyone who can assist in this matter. Thanks..

I visited your website and saw one with the Part #AP4980910 Mfg: #WE4M519. However, there seem to be a slight difference as the one on my dryer has 4 prongs with 2 red and 2 brown slide on wires and is 1" square.The one on your site seem to have only 3 prongs. Kaxh December 23, 2011 for Model Number DHDSR46EE0WW Ok, we checked the end of my cord and it's not burnt, so that's good I hope. I opened the door, and had the door switch held in while somebody turned the tub. I pushed the start and it didn't take off.So does that mean the motor is good? My friend opened up the back and used a Sperry current tester (DM-4400A) on the starter switch and said that there is a current going to the switch but not coming out of it. That is why he thought that it might be the switch. Are there any other suggestions? Thank you.
