Red wire - connected from part #AP2044426 "buzzer variable", then to "Terminal 4" on Rotary switch, followed by connecting to underneath the main panel of the dryer. Brown wire- Connected from timer, followed by "Terminal 2" on rotary switch. Light Brown wire - Connected from "Terminal 3" on Rotary switch to underneath the main panel of dryer.

It should not stay in the on position, it should spring back. However, when you turn it on, the contacts inside the switch make up and start and run the motor through the neutral. Mike October 07, 2011 for Model Number DWSR483GB1WW So I received this new rotary starter, installed it, and looks like im having the same problem like everyone else. The knob doesn't stay when I turn it. It just springs back. I've tried switching the wires around according to the terminals instructed on previous "post questions" for this item and still my knob springs back and shuts off the dyer.

My current rotary switch has 3 prongs that are numbered 2, 3, and 4 with the wires connected to them. Numbers 3 and 4 are on the same side next to each other sharing the same panel. On new piece, the numbers on the switch are 2,3, and 4, however 2 and 4 are on the same side sharing the same panel. Does having the prongs on the same or different side matter? Or do I just connect the wires accordingly from number to number?

Dave August 12, 2011 for Model Number DS4500EB2WW Our GE electric dryer began to start as soon as you set the timer and closed the door. I checked for solutions on ApplianceParsPros.com and ordered a new rotary start switch. I received and installed the switch. Now the dryer starts when I turn the switch but then stops when I release the switch. The original switch has evidence of a short and wouldn't spring back to the off position. Is the new switch (Part # WE4M519) bad, or should I look elsewhere?
1 Answer Hi Dave. Double check the wiring to the start switch. Is the red wire on terminal # 2? The red wire coming from the buzzer goes on the #-2 as well.
