Val, if the oven is turned on to a higher heat for a long period of time, the heat can accumulate at the stove top as the vent for the oven is just beneath the top panel.

Hello Linda, there is no temperature adjustment with the new (safety) Sensi-temp top burner elements. It is not advised to attempt any modification or to try to replace them with the older (non-Sensi-temp) coils. As a suggestion use a straight edge and check the outer bottom of your pots/pans, they should be flat with no gaps across the bottom, true flat pots/pans will sit on the entire coil and absorb the heat and keep the coil's Safety thermostat from cycling the element off excessively.

If the sensi-temp button does NOT touch the pan, will the coil turn off or stay hot? Like millions of other consumers, I can no longer cook due to these terrible sensi-coils. I just bought my electric stove 3 months ago and the sensors are clean and it still shuts off. Even with my few new, flat pans! I've been cooking for 45 years, have plenty of expensive NON-flat cookware, and no fires yet but now I can no longer cook since the coil won't stay hot. I cannot stir-fry, deep-fry, can vegetables or jam, or do anything else that requires sustained heat, and will have to invests in a propane system or try to find old-fashioned burners instead. Or cook on a woodstove! If I can disable it, however, life will be good. Can I wedge something in to keep it from touching the pan? Will that work?

Hello Lisa, It is never advised to bypass manufacturers features as this could cause many potential hazards such as fire, electrocution, etc. You should contact the manufacturer's customer service with your concerns.

Hello Angie, the manufacturer does not list any other cooktop coil elements for your model, all stove manufacturers with cooktops using coil elements have been required to use some type of safety coil element design. As such we can not recommend or comment on removing a safety element as originally designed by a manufacturer, I would suggest you contact the manufacturer's customer service with your concern.
