For Ge Temp Control (Part Number: OEM6185358)

Hello Gary. Yes, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the temperature control WR9X599 is bad and will need to be replaced. You will need to check and see if the damper assembly WR9X522 is opening and closing properly in the unit as well. If not, you will need to replace the damper assembly as well. Hope this helps.

Elbert, Based on your post description, the freezer temperature control WR9X599, would be the best place to star. The internal contacts are not resetting to the "cool" mode, when you reset it to a cooler temp. setting the contacts close and the compressor starts and runs.It would also be the cause of extended run times, trying to reach the temp. selected, Good Luck and Thanks

Hi Elbert. This means that the internal rheostat in the temperature control has opened and will only come on when you are at another setting. It is part # WR9X599. Make sure on the reconnection, that 1-Your entire length of the sensor bulb is straight. Only bend it slightly around corners. 2- the electrical connections are tight. Thank You.

Barry for Model Number ctx18GJBR

top freezer is cold enoughf to freeze water and some items but some items are frosty but loose. Lower compartment is cool but not really cold. Had defrost timer and defrost thermostat replaced. But still not really cold with temp settings on D and 7 of 9 (imagine if she was in the fridge?). Could faulty temp control be problem? Compressor and fan runs as well as fan in back wall of freezer. Thinking I could take back wall cover off and see whether there is even build up of frost on coils? To get an idea whether there is problem with compressor (refrigeration).

Hi Barry. If your condenser coils are clogged, then it will boil the freon. Yes it could be the cold control, but then clean the coils and make sure that the door gaskets are sealing properly. Some/ most of the parts are not available anymore. Let us know. Thank you.
