Narendra January 06, 2021 for Model Number TFX27PPBABB I have replaced the defrost heater (inc thermostat) and defrost timer. The fridge on both sides is STILL running very cold (down to 12%F on Freezer side and almost 32dregrees on Fridge side). There is only a little frost build up on the coil and the defrost heater is turning on - i have noticed it once in 24 hours. I have adjusted the temperature dial to 4, but no difference.
1 Answer Narendra, Thanks for the question!!! It sounds like your Cold control has failed. The part number is WR9X599, which is no longer available. Sorry. Read More...
Bill March 08, 2019 for Model Number TFX22PPBG AA My refrigerator thermostat is not working properly anymore. The correct replacement part is WR9X599. I have searched thoroughly on the Internet, and there are no suppliers who can sell me this discontinued part. However, I find WR9X499 is available. Any chance it could do the job, maybe with a different behavior, but good enough to avoid replacing the refrigerator? Thanks.
1 Answer Bill, we can not recommend using [WR9x499] as a replacement as it is not an approved substitute by the manufacturer and the operation difference can possibly cause further issues with your appliance. Read More...
Bob February 18, 2019 for Model Number ZISW42DCA I am looking to replace the thermostat model number WR09X0599 which is no longer available. The replacement part is supposed to be WR9X599, but that too is unavailable. Is there a new replacement part that will replace the thermostat for my 25 year old GE Monogram Refrigerator. Thank you
1 Answer Bob, Unfortunately with the thermostat having been discontinued there would be no suitable replacement available. Read More...
Sal May 24, 2018 for Model Number GE Model TFX25PPBE WW I have a side by side GE refrigerator. The compressor doesn't always come on. This is noticeable as the ice cubes starts to melt in the freezer section. To get the compressor running, i tap on the temperature control located in the fresh food section and the compressor will come on. This happens repeatedly. Therefore, my guess is that i have an intermittent temperature control problem. However, given that the temperature control, part # WR9X599 is discontinued, is there something else that can be causing this problem ?
1 Answer Sal, Unfortunately with the temp control WR9X599 having been discontinued there would be no suitable replacement available. Read More...
John October 17, 2017 for Model Number TFX22PPBGAA The top shelf of my refrigerator freezes liquids. The rest of the refrigerator/freezer works fine. Since it's only the top shelf that freezes, is the problem the thermostat or possibly something else? If it's the thermostat only, the part is WR9X599, which I can't locate. If it is the thermostat, is there a generic part for my G.E. refrigerator? Someone said because its an isolated incident on the top shelf only, it may be the air flow fan or something else. Thank you
1 Answer Hello John, This is going to be an air circulation issue, most likely caused by the way the refrigerator is loaded. I'm sorry about the way this sounds since I am not trying to blame you, but the cold air from the freezer side enters the fresh food section and has to mix with the warmer air in the fresh food side. Items closer to the inlet duct from the freezer side will tend to try to freeze if the air cannot circulate properly through the fresh food side and back to the freezer side through the lower duct back into the freezer side. If the temperatures are about 0°F to 10°F on the freezer side and the fresh food side measure about 35°F to 38°F, the temperatures are correct and the air circulation just needs to be improved by spacing items in the fresh food side differently so the air temperatures can mix more evenly. It does not sound like the fresh food temperature control WR9X599 will be an issue. By the way, you cannot locate this part because it has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...

Gino September 06, 2014 for Model Number Tfx26ppdww My freezer is very cold about 14 degrees. The fresh food section is very warm about 55 degrees. The evap fan is working. The adjustment wheel is stuck on D and wont turn. The fresh food adjustment knob is set to 9 the coldest setting. What should I check to lower the temperature in the fresh food section. This is a side by side refrigerator. Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Gino. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the evaporator coils in the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the control board. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Gino September 06, 2014 for Model Number Tfx26ppdww My freezer is very cold about 14degrees. My fresh food is about 55 on the coldest setting. The evap fan is always on and the control wheel for the freezer is stuck on d.
1 Answer Geno, With the freezer temp running 14 degrees and the fresh food section at 55 then both sections are too warm. The freezer should run at about 0 degrees. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. Milan M April 19, 2013 for Model Number GE TFX25PPBBWW On my side by side GE Profile, the fresh food section works fine (around 38F), but the freezer is around 20F with the temp control turned to the coldest setting for both sides. I haven't checked the coils yet, but was wondering if that could be either the cold control or the damper. I've also noticed that the ice maker has been making less (and smaller) ice in the last month. Don't know if that's because of the loss of cooling or possibly a leak.
1 Answer Milan, You will definitely want to check the coils on the unit to make sure that you have a complete frost pattern. An incomplete frost patter could be caused by a leak in the refrigerant system. You will also want to check to make sure that the condenser fan motor is working. An inoperative fan motor would cause the compressor to shut down prematurely. This would cause the compressor to overheat and shut down. Read More...
