Kevin July 14, 2023 for Model Number GSL25JGCBLS My 10-year old GE refrigerator (GSL25JGCBLS) has frost buildup issue with the freezer even after I replace defrost heater, defrost thermostat, temperature sensor and the main board. I also did a thorough cleaning on all parts such as water drain line, coils etc. All parts are working but the freezer keeps defrosting and freezing every 3 to 4 days. Could you suggest what to do to fix this? Thank you!
1 Answer Kevin, based on the information provided, the refrigerator thermistor would be causing the unit to call for cold air too much, causing this failure. Replacing the thermistor WR55X10025 would be the correction. Read More...
Lisa July 02, 2023 for Model Number CFE28TSHFSS Fridge is too warm (57 degrees F despite setting), bottom temperature-controlled drawer in fresh food storage area has ice on the back of it and is freezing deli meats and cheeses. Freezer is working and maintaining 0 degrees F. I have cleaned the coils and the fan next to the coils seems to be able to move unobstructed. What steps should I take to correctly diagnose my problem?
1 Answer Lisa, You will want to check to make sure that the fan is running and if it is not then this will be a faulty fan that you will need to be replaced. Read More...
John Z May 01, 2023 for Model Number PSC23MGPCWW My refrigerator shut down the compressor is not running. the temperture control digital buttons are off but the lights are on in the refrigerator and freezer. I turned off the power for 3 minutes and reconnected the power cord and that worked for about 24 hours then the conpressor and ice maker turned off but inside lights stay on. I tried to turn off the breaker waited 30 minutes but this time the refrigerator did not turn on. I saw your video about replacing the temperture thermostat control switch and wanted to know if that should solve the problem. Not the Motherboard for the (digital temp control setting buttons) which is what a repair tech said he thinks is the problem from his experience with this issue. I only spoke with him on the phone and he said he would come to my home to fix it in about 20 minutes tops. I did not see any Motherboards listed on your Parts list and feel like this guy is trying scam me. Thank you for your expert advice. John Zale
1 Answer John Z, Based on the information provided this does sound as if there is a problem with a control board and the main control board does affect both the compressor and the lights. Using the tech sheet supplied with the refrigerator and a multimeter you could check for power out to the compressor when it should be running and you can check the resistance of the temperature thermistors to determine the cause of the issue. The main board for this model is our part number WR55X10942C Read More...
Nikki April 03, 2023 for Model Number GE Refrigerator ZISS480NXBSS Where's the (sits on the evaporator coil) temperature sensor on my GE Monogram side by side Refrigerator ZISS480NXBSS? Is there one there on this model? Is it behind the freezer panel or behind the fresh food panel?
1 Answer Nikki, the model provided does have a thermistor WR55X10025 in the evaporator section. The evaporator will be located in the freezer at the top just above the fan and will require the cover panels to be removed. Read More...
Ryan April 01, 2023 for Model Number PSCS5RGXCFSS My fridge isn't staying cool. I noticed the fridge coils were a block of ice and defrosted them last week. It fixed my problem but a lot of frost has already built back up. I bought GE Temperature Sensor Part #: AP3185407 (WR55X10025), but I'm not sure where to install it...or if there are other sensors to also replace? Can you tell me where it goes? Am I on the right track? Thanks! Ryan
1 Answer Ryan, thanks for asking!!!! This is likely not a temp sensor issue. Here is a troubleshooting video that may help: https://youtu.be/OkJ7fXtenbU Read More...
Dan Hirst March 23, 2023 for Model Number ZISB420DMA I have an older GE Monogram ZISB420DMA fridge that is not meeting temps. The technical sheet that came with the fridge says there are 4 temp sensors in the unit. 2 in the FF, 1 in Freezer, and one on Evap coil. I have found and replaced 3 of the 4, but cannot find access to the 4th on the evap cooler. I watched the video attached for this unit, but the evap cooler is within the freezer. On my unit there is a section above the fridge that has the compressor coil on one side and evap coil on the other side (I think), but that section is fully enclosed in a metal housing and does not look accessible at all. Seems like replacing this 4th temp sensor is my missing link, but can't seem to find it or access it. Please help.
1 Answer Dan, The evaporator is in the ceiling of the freezer compartment. You will need to remove the screws holding the panel in place where the evaporator fand motor is in order to access the evaporator. Read More...
Greg March 23, 2023 for Model Number gsh25jsxl ss Help. Freezer not cold enough, frost on back panel, ice in ice maker but items not staying frozen. Fridge temp not cold, staying at 59 degrees. What sounds like it needs to be replaced? Freezer fan does cycles on and off. Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Greg, check that the compressor and condenser fan is running, if so then there may be a defrost problem with evap coils in the freezer section, check the frost condition of the coils. Read More...
Adam January 26, 2023 for Model Number gse25gshbcss My Freezer Door temperature is -9 my refrigerator is 36. I check with a thermometer the actual temp in the freezer no goes less than 22, the refrigerator goes down to 38. I replace the termistor next to the coils in the freezer. What can be the issue here?
1 Answer Adam, Check the evaporator for a frost pattern from top to bottom. If there is very little frost to no frost then it would be a sealed system issue and would need to have service to repair. Read More...
Michelle Holena December 19, 2022 for Model Number GFE28HSHDSS Hello my first problem was freezing food in the refrigerator on the bottom shelf but the temperature on the top shelf was reading 50 degrees so i replaced the refrigerator fan now the top shelf is cool inspect but now the bottom 2 shelfs are freezing stuff Today i noticed my freezer is very cool its empty no food I have the temperature set at 5 degrees but its like -15 so I dont know what would be causing it to run so cold
1 Answer Michelle, It would be recommended to check the temperature sensors in the unit to ensure that they are good and if the sensors are good then it is possible that the main board is not reading the sensors correctly. Read More...
Angela November 12, 2022 for Model Number CSCP5UGXCFSS The freezer is working fine, but the temp fresh food side varies by shelf. The top is around 42 degrees but the bottom is 35. What would be the cause of this? The temp of the ff side is 37 according to the digital display on the appliance itself. Thanks.
1 Answer Angela, Thanks for the question!!! There could be several causes. The first thing to check is to verify the evaporator fan WR17X12490 is running. If so you will want to check the coils for an abundant amount of frost which would indicate a defrost issue.
