Questions & Answers

For Ge Refrigerator Temperature Sensor (Part Number: OEM9556230)

Angela, Thanks for the question!!! There could be several causes. The first thing to check is to verify the evaporator fan WR17X12490 is running. If so you will want to check the coils for an abundant amount of frost which would indicate a defrost issue. Check this video out for more troubleshooting help: https://youtu.be/fFNi50tdeto

Jeff, There should be a sensor located in the refrigerator under a cover on the side wall and the one in the freezer will be on the back wall.

John, Thanks for the question!!! The evaporator sensor would not affect the fridge temp without affecting the freezer. The is a temp sensor for the fridge compartment. It should be located on the side wall of the fridge compartment, under a little football-shaped grill cover. This is the most likely issue as it tells the damper when to open and close.

Ricky for Model Number GSH25JFRFWW

I have to put both temperature knobs on 9, the highest setting, in order to keep the temperature at the optimal settings. The freezer is 0 degrees F and the refrigerator is 40 degrees F. Adjustments can be made independently and will affect the temperature for each side. Is this normal or should the temperature be able to go lower? Currently it is at its max cold settings. Will changing the temperature sensor(s) increase the cooling range? My other refrigerator will maintain these temperatures while set at the #6 control setting. I have thoroughly cleaned the inside, out and underneath, so dust and crud are not the issue. It is like the sensor(s) are not in sync with the thermostat dials. What are your thoughts on this problem?

1 Answer

Ricky, Based on the information provided I would suggest checking the sensors for the resistance value using a multimeter. The correct resistance rating is listed in the tech sheet supplied with your machine.
