The Microwave Door Switch is an OEM replacement part for LG countertop microwaves. It monitors the door position electrically to prevent unsafe oven operation if ajar.

Symptoms of a bad door switch include:

  • Inability to start or pause a cooking cycle unless securely latched
  • Error messages about the door being open
  • Inconsistent detection of open/closed door positions
  • Unreliable contact functioning after extended use

Causes involve normal wear of electrical contacts and internals through many open/close uses. Exposure to moisture intrusion from spills may potentially damage sensitive switch circuitry over time as well.

This genuine LG replacement switch is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore microwaves.

For Lg Microwave Door Switch (Part Number: OEM13313880)

Sas, Thanks for the question!!! Slamming the door points to a bad door switch. All three switches should be replaced at the same time. Thankfully LG makes this easy by offering an assembly (latch and all three switches together). The assembly is part number 3501W1A019S.

Arlene, this failure could be caused by a few things. The thermostats would need to be tested for continuity and all of them will have continuity with the exception of the blower thermostat (usually identified by the thinner wires going to it). The upper and lower door switches 3B73362F would need to be tested for continuity as well and should have continuity when the door is closed. If these test good and the unit did not sound like it was trying to heat, the failure would likely be in the main control 6871W1A497C (part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available).

Ralph, when the microwave is unplugged and the door is open, the top primary switch 3B73362F and the bottom door sensing 3B73362F switch should show open when testing for continuity. The middle monitor switch 6600W1K001C would show continuity when the door is open. When the door is closed the readings should be opposite. Based on the information provided, it sounds like either the door is not activating the switches properly due to the switch mount having moved, or the door switches have failed.

Sound like one of the door switches to me. Just use the tech sheet inside and ohm them out for continuity to see which one is bad.

John, For this issue, the keypad would be the issue and would need to replace the keypad 617-215-1410 but has been discontinued by the manufacturer with no suitable replacement available.

Hello OC, at this point you will need a multimeter and will need to uninstall the microwave, remove the outer case, and with the microwave unplugged, check the thermal fuses, thermostats for continuity. If the microwave is plugged in check that there is 120v going to the board.
