The Door Switch is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It is located near the door hinge and is activated by the door's movement. When the door is closed, the switch is engaged, allowing the interior light to turn off and other functions to operate normally. When the door is opened, the switch is released, triggering the interior light to turn on and potentially activating other features, such as the ice dispenser or cooling system.

Causes of a faulty door switch can include wear and tear over time, mechanical damage from excessive force, or electrical issues.

Symptoms of a bad door switch may include:

  • The interior light not turning on when the door is opened
  • The interior light remains on when the door is closed
  • Issues with the dispenser or other functions associated with the door switch

George for Model Number LFC25760TT

I have a problem with a side by side LG refrigerator with bottom freezer. The refrigerator side of the refrigerator's interior light doesn't go on when door is open. I changed the Light Assembly socket and that did not work, the refrigerator signal sound comes on to alert you to close the door. I replaced the bulbs, I checked the bulbs to ensure they work, But when I flick the door light switch buttons both the lights flicker on sometimes they stay on but do go off when you open the doors again? Please help, I think I would need to replace both door switches. But I need an experts opinion. Thank you. George, The likelihood of both door switches failing at the same time would be unlikely. This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty control board that has a intermittent relay for the lights.
