The Sensor Assembly is an OEM part for LG washing machines. It ensures the machine operates efficiently and effectively by providing accurate data to the control board.

Causes of a bad sensor assembly can include wear and tear from regular use, exposure to water and detergents, electrical malfunctions, or damage from impact. A faulty sensor assembly can lead to incorrect readings, which can affect the washing machine’s performance and lead to issues such as improper water levels or unbalanced loads.

Symptoms of a bad Sensor Assembly include:

  • Incorrect water levels during cycles
  • The washing machine stopping mid-cycle or not completing cycles
  • Error codes related to water level or load balance
  • The machine failing to start or operate correctly

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Vicki, The electric contact between the connectors in the motor harness and the connector in the main PWB assembly is bad or unstable. Check for continuity in the harness, there may be a broken wire.

Jason, If you are able to wiggle the rotor a little to get it seated all the way. It is possible that the tub would be slid forward slightly causing this issue.

Help!! Our washer was throwing an LE code. It has done this once before, but it was actually just a loose rotor mounting nut. I thought maybe this was what happened again, but when I turn the washer on its side I noticed the shift actuator coupling had broken. So I replaced that part and I'm still getting code. I did notice that when I put the rotor assembly back on the teeth of the coupling were not lining up, it moved with the rotor shaft. Didn't know if this was ok... After I put it all back together I am still getting code. After I turn machine on, I get a "click" from the agitator and then it just hums for a bit in "load sense". Thought my next step would be the rotor position sensor...?? Thanks!

1 Answer

Jeff, Yes the rotor position sensor will be the most likely cause for the issue of the unit not operating properly and giving this error code.

Dan, With this issue you will want to check the rotor and stator for cracks in the magnet and if this checks ok then check the wiring between the stator and the main board. If wiring check ok then this will be a faulty main control board.

Pamela for Model Number WM2301HR

My LG Front Load Washer worked absolutely fine one day and the next it started making the loud noise when trying to to turn CW. It would turn CCW with no issues. Later in the night we had a power surge where our power went out only for a few minutes and then came back on. I assumed everything was fine but the following morning my washer would not power on. The noise filter and main board have been replaced and now we are back to the loud noise when trying to turn CW or CCW. I can turn the tub by hand either way very easily. I've been reading the notes and I am thoroughly confused and sickened at the thought of having to buy a new washer. I've loved this washer from day one and I want out of this nightmare. I've spent $444 up to this point on parts and repairs. Do I continue to try repairing or simply buy a new one?

Pamela, For this issue it would be suggested to check between the inner and outer tub to make sure that there is nothing caught between the inner and outer tub. If this checks ok then it would most likely be the bearings that are possibly starting to go bad.
