The Hinge Spring is an OEM part for LG dishwashers. This spring works with the door hinge to provide the necessary tension for smooth opening and closing of the dishwasher door, ensuring it stays securely in place when opened or closed.

Over time, the hinge spring can become worn out or break due to regular use, metal fatigue, or accidental impacts. Causes of a bad hinge spring include excessive wear, rust or corrosion, and physical damage from forceful door operation.

Symptoms of a bad hinge spring include:

  • The dishwasher door dropping suddenly or not staying in the open position
  • Difficulty in opening or closing the door smoothly
  • Unusual noises, such as squeaking or popping, when operating the door
  • The door feeling loose or unbalanced

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Lg Hinge Spring (Part Number: OEM14991144)

David, There is no reason to remove the clip for the spring to install the unit. In the opening of the dishwasher door approximately 1/4 of the way down on the sides, there are screw covers. You would take the cover off and line the dishwasher up so that you can install the screw. Once installed you will put the screw cover back on. You only screw in at these 2 openings and not down low where the springs are located.

Davet for Model Number LG #LDF6810ST

I just placed an order for 2 Hinge Springs #4970ED4004G along with the accompanying Hinge Cables. I just decided to go ahead and replace all of the suspect parts [my door got really heavy!!!] rather than pull out the Dishwasher so that I could see which part failed, put it back so I could use it while awaiting the parts, then doing the same thing over again. Plus you recommend replacing both sides, which I agree with. When I pull out the DW, does it have to come out all the way so that I can remove both side panels fully, or can I "cheat" and just loosen the front panel screws without causing myself problems? Thanks.

Dave, You would need to pull the unit all the way out in order to remove the panels to replace the hinges.
