This safety interlock assembly secures the washer door and signals the control when it's safe to run a cycle. Replacing a faulty unit helps restore proper locking and start functions to prevent interruptions and error codes.

  • Locks the washer door and confirms it is closed to allow the cycle to start
  • Sends door-closed/locked status to the control throughout the cycle
  • Helps prevent the door from opening during spin or when water is present
  • Common symptoms: won't start, won't lock/unlock, door error (dE) messages, cycle stops mid-wash
What's included: One safety switch assembly as shown. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; wear cut-resistant gloves
  • Access the lock at the door opening; remove the mounting screws and disconnect the harness
  • Transfer connectors to the new assembly, align, and secure without overtightening
  • Ensure the door strike aligns smoothly with the new lock before testing

Questions & Answers

For Lg Door Lock Switch Assembly (Washer) (Part Number: OEM21039354)

Jerry for Model Number DLEX5780WE

Dryer works fine, however, the drum light is not working. I have replaced the light with a new one with no success. It appears the door switch may be bad. Does the door switch allow power to go to the drum and all other functions for drying, as well as to the light? I do not see any separate light switch per se. The video shows the door switch being removed from the front of the cabinet. It appears that I need to take the top off of my model of dryer in order to gain access to the switch. Is this correct?

Jerry, the door switch EBF61496102 will complete the circuit to the lamp when the door is open and would be a likely cause of failure. The removal process of the door switch for this model will be the same as it is in the repair video found on the part information page.

Brian, This issue would either be caused by a faulty door switch or the control board is faulty. You will test the door switch for continuity. If it has continuity then the switch is good and the control board is faulty and will need to be replaced.

Arlen, The dryer not shutting off would most likely be caused by a stuck relay on the control board which will be part number EBR62707659.

Ken, Make sure the belt has not broke, Also, you will want to make sure the control is sending voltage to the motor. With no lights at the control, you also need to check your power supply. The breaker could have tripped halfway and even though the light comes on inside the control may not be receiving power. It is best to test for 240 VAC at the back of the dryer where the power cord comes into the unit.

Paula, Check to make sure that the door is not sagging and if not then the latch and catch would be what is needed for this. The part number for the latch is 4026EL3007C and strike is 4027EL1001C.

Daniel, To remove the wires from the door switch you would just pull it straight out. There it may be tight but if you hold the sides of the switch is should come.
