Nhan, There will be a little rattle to the overload protector but should not cause it to not work. Normally if the compressor is not running then it would be more likely a start relay that is bad rather than the overload.

Paul, if the compressor is constantly running then the overload/relay is not the problem. You have either a defective compressor or it is low on freon.

Dave, The overload and relay would need to be replaced but you cannot use just any because it has to be set for the amperage draw on your unit. You will wan to check for avanti parts but we do not have any avanti parts.
