Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Temperature Sensor (Part Number: OEM12422967)

DIY Bob, Thanks for the question!!! With this issue, we can not give a likely part failure with an error code. I recommend you find the tech sheet for your model. This will allow you to run the diagnostics mode, hopefully producing an error code. This will narrow down the failure reason. There are several parts that could cause this issue and several could require an EPA certified technician to complete sealed system repairs.

I appreciate your response to my earlier question about my Samsung RF24FSEDBSR/AA refrigerator. As per your advice, I followed your procedure to pull up an error code to see why my Fridge temp is reading 80 degrees and freezing the drinks in my fridge compartment. Pressing the Energy Saver and Lighting buttons simultaneously until the display started blinking, it went totally blank and did not show any error code. I still suspect the fridge temp sensor is bad, but what is your advice at this point ? Thanks.

Justin, Based on the information provided you can check the temperature sensors with a multimeter if you have one to be sure they are good, but it could be an issue with the mainboard if it will not go into diagnostics mode. Try to place into diagnostics again before condemning the board.

My Samsung RF24FSEDBSR/AA refrigerator reads 80 degrees on the Fridge temperature display panel, but drinks in the refrigerator are freezing up. The foods inside the fridge are staying cold as well, but not frozen like the drinks. I have set the temperature to 35 degrees and above, but the display panel still reads a constant 80 degrees. Everything seems to be working ok in the freezer portion of the refrigerator though. Do you think that the refrigerator temperature sensor is the problem? From what I have read about other Samsung models with similar symptoms, this seems to be the problem. Thanks for your advice.

Justin, Thanks for the question!!! Yes, it could be a sensor issue. You can run an error check on the fridge by pressing and holding the Energy Saver and Lighting Buttons at the same time, only release the buttons when the screen starts to blink. A blank screen means no errors, the temp sensors are 1E for the freezer sensor and 2E for the fridge sensor.

Richard, the refrigerator cabin thermistor is part number DA32-00011D. You may want to test the resistance of the thermistor to ensure that this is the issue as the main control DA94-02275B may be the issue since this unit is fluctuating drastically in temperature.

Hello David, The thermistor for the fresh food compartment is usually located in the light assembly cover. The one in the evaporator compartment tells the control the temperature of the evaporator and is clipped onto the evaporator.

Ice is building up at the top of the evaporator unit in the back, a common problem with Samsungs. And water was collecting under the bins. I replaced the evaporator plate at the bottom and made sure the drain is clear. Now I want to fix the ice build-up at the top. I have read online that I should replace the defrost thermostat and the defrost temp sensor. I found the thermostat, but there are two different temp sensors listed for this unit. Which one should I buy? It is located in the top right section where the coolant coils enter the fridge. Also, some recommend changing where the sensor is located; there are 3 copper tubes coming in, it was on the right-hand one, I moved it to the left one but ice still builds up.
