Hello Bernie, This fault code indicates a communication loss between the main PCB and the Sub PCB. As per the service manual, you will need to either replace the communication wire or the control circuit board DE92-03624D.

KF, The first thing to check would be the door switches to make sure that they are good. If the door switches are good then look for loose connections and replace board if connections are good.

Bryan for Model Number Kenmore 40185053210 microwave

The microwave will cook indefinitely as long as it is plugged in and the door is closed. There is a humming sound, which I believe is the normal hum of the magnetron. The cooling fan and the turntable do not run as the malfunction is occurring. The cooling fan and turntable are operational and function normally when the microwave is commanded on as normal. Once the timer finishes counting down, the turntable and fan stop and the hum and cooking function continue until the door is opened. Closing the door will cause the oven to hum and heat it's contents automatically and indefinitely. What is causing the magnetron to run constantly? Thank you.

1 Answer

Bryan, The most likely cause for the microwave to have the magnetron running continuously will be a faulty control board. The part number of the control board will be DE92-02329A.

Larry, It would be more likely that the thermostat on the magnetron, the diode or the magnetron has failed as opposed to the microswitch causing the unit not to heat.

Skeeter for Model Number Kenmore 401.8505

My Kenmore microwave is two years old. It can be set for various tasks and it comes on and completes the cycle as usual. The beeper sounds when the cycle as ended. The clock switches back to time of day as normal. Then when the door is opened the microwave starts again. It just sounds like the fan is running but I am not sure. It will do this several times if I keep opening the door. After waiting several minutes the door can be opened without the noise starting. Can you tell me what is causing this malfunction?

1 Answer

Hello Skeeter, You will need to replace all three door switches to correct the issue. They are all included in the assembly DE96-00414A.

Josh, Chances are, you won't need anything, but an adjustment. But you may want to have the switch bracket DE66-00168A and switches 3405-001033,WP3405-001034. You didn't mention an issue, but, the bracket or switch mounting tabs, have probably "flexxed" and the switches are not being activated properly.

Hello David. Check and see if the latch locks in the door move up and down with tension. If not, you will need to replace the door assembly DE94-01398D. The manufacture does not sell the parts separately. If it is good, you will need to remove the over cover off the microwave and check the latch housing DE66-00168A and see if it is broke. Hope this helps.
