Edward, it is recommended that all three baffles 4432EL1002A are in place. A missing baffle can affect the dryer's performance and if there are any burs where one attaches, it can snag onto clothes.

Confused for Model Number MDE9606AYW

When ordering a replacement dryer baffle the link for the replacement screws notes that the manufacturer discontinued them. In various reviews it is answered that one can go to a hardware store and buy #9-15 inch screws to use instead. Well, when I went to Home Depot the machine screws were all in even number sizes, such as #8 or #10 and I didn't see any that had a 15 after the 8 or 10. The only #9 screws I found (in store or online) were for roofing. So, what size/type of screws are to be used when replacing a short dryer baffle in a Maytag dryer model MDE9606AYW?

1 Answer

Confused, as the original screw is a #9-15x1 screw 33002973 that has been discontinued, the only other option would be taking a screw from another baffle and using it as a comparison for diameter and thread type. The length would need to be 1" though.

Keith, there would be two tall baffles WP33002032 and one short baffle WP33001755 used with the model number provided. As the unit is designed to operate with this being the case, it would be recommended that the original design is maintained.
