I have replaced the split coils but the problem remains. Is this my gas valve that is the problem? The gas to the dryer is fine and the venting system is fine as well.
1 Answer Hello Shannon, You would want to check your main coil. Let the unit cycle 4 or 5 times and then check resistance of the 2 pin main coil. You should read 1000 ohms. Green March 12, 2012 for Model Number WGD9600TW0 Whirlpool Duet Gas Dryer The dryer will not maintain heat. I replaced the thermal fuse and the 2-prong gas valve coil because my husband already ordered them and he thought that would fix the problem. After that didn’t work, I started from scratch and watched all of the videos. The burner igniter glows bright orange for a few seconds, the blue gas flame can then be seen blowing through the burner tube, then the flame switch clicks off. The blue gas flames continue for about a minute and the dryer appears to function normally with sufficient heat inside the drum. Then the flame switches off for a minute, and the cycle starts over (starting with the burner igniter glowing). After the cycle repeats a few more times, the dryer continues to run without any more heat. I noticed the top prong of the 2-forked bracket (that holds the igniter to the burner tube) is getting scorched when the blue flame is burning. It looks like a little bit of the flame is escaping to the left more than it should. (I wondered if I created a draft because I had the bottom panel off in order to observe everything). What is my next step? It seems as if most of the problems people listed involved not getting the burner to come on, or turn off, or not getting any gas or electricity. 1 Answer Hi Green. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. Kenya January 21, 2012 for Model Number MGDC400VWO My dryer flame ignites for about 10 seconds then shuts off. It will wait about 15 seconds or so then re ignite then shut off in about 5 seconds and shut off. It continues in this fasion. What part do you think I need?

1 Answer Hello Vickie. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Robert March 24, 2011 for Model Number TGDS840PQ1 The shield at the end of the burner has some scorch marks on it, is this normal? The dryer starts to heat up, but it seems to kick out and continues to run without drying the clothes. (It ran overnight once already) From what I saw it appeared to be the coils, but I tested them with an ohm meter and the outputs all seem to be in operating ranges.
