The Door Closure is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It is a critical component responsible for ensuring the proper sealing and closure of the refrigerator door, maintaining the desired temperature and preventing air leaks.

A faulty or worn door closure can lead to issues such as inadequate cooling, increased energy consumption, and potential food spoilage. Causes of a bad door closure may include normal wear and tear over time, physical damage from impact or mishandling, or compatibility issues with the specific refrigerator model.

Symptoms of a faulty Door Closure include:

  • Air leaks around the door seal, causing cooling inefficiency
  • Difficulty in opening or closing the refrigerator door
  • The door not sealing tightly or feeling loose when closed
  • Visible cracks, breaks, or damage to the door closure mechanism

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore refrigerator models.

Vince for Model Number MFI2569VEM

I have a problem with my refrigerator: Problems: 1. Ice and cold water dispenser only work when compressor is not running. Ice maker works well. 2. Defrost cycle stay on a long time so that condensation collects in refrigerator compartment and frost collects on items in freezer. Freezer temperature gets up to over 20 degrees at times but then back to 0 degrees. 3. Door alarm does not work. 4. Temperature alarm sounds when temperatures in refrigerator and freezer sections are at set values. Does this sound familiar? How do I fix it?

Hello Vince. It sounds like the HV board WPW10310240 has failed and will need to be replaced on the unit. It is located on the back of the unit. You will need to remove the access cover to access and replace the board.

Hello Joan. Sorry, there is not a door stop for that. You may be able to put a home door stop on the cabinet to keep the door from hitting the cabinet.

Hello Keith, To remove the door to replace the door closure WP67003638 you will first remove the upper hinge cover. This will be held in by either a 5/16" screw or a phillips head screw. You will want to remove everything from the door. Then with the hinge cover removed take the screws from the upper hinge and remove hinge. With upper hinge off you will open door slightly and lift of and turn upside down to access the closure. You may also want to check all your shelving in the refrigerator section to make sure that it is properly seated and not causing door to be pushed on.
