For Whirlpool Electronic Control Board (Part Number: OEM12785715)

Rayford Necaise for Model Number WED9450WW1

On the original control electronics assembly, I was getting code F:31. I changed the control electronics assembly and now I am getting a code of F:70. I checked the voltage coming from outlet and it was fine. I am confused as to which one to try and fix. I have researched online and getting multiple problems for the F:70 code and do not want to change everything out because I can just buy a new one for all of the money spent. What should I do?

Rayford, The F31 code indicates an "L2 Line Voltage Error", Check to make sure you have proper voltage at the wall outlet and at the terminal block on the back of the dryer. Make sure the terminal block nuts holding the power cord to the terminal block. F70 indicates "No Communication Between Electronic Assemblies" Separate/disconnect the harness between the console/User interface and check for any loose connections, corrosion, moisture, etc. Check the connections at the P% and P2 connectors on the machine control board, inside the dryer. If alls OK replace the machine control board WPW10169969.

Joan, first start with voltage, you should read 240 volts at the terminal block, going from black to red. If voltage is correct, check the thermal fuse located on the blower housing, you should have continuity. Also, check the door switch and the belt switch for continuity. If these check ok, you probably have a bad motor relay on the control board, it would need to be replaced, part number is WPW10174745

Hello Jumiville, This can be either a bad thermistor WP8577274 or a stuck key on the control panel W10116696. The diagnostic test mode should be activated to pull the fault codes from the control.

Hello Mike. Yes. You will remove the heater and see if the heater coil is touching metal. If so, replace the heater in the unit.

Hello David. No, if the unit is over heating, you will need to check and make sure the heater is not grounded and staying on. If not, you will need to replace the relay control board WPW10110641, not the front control board W10121375. Hope this helps.

Hello Gary. If you have 240 volts at the element, and the dryer does not heat, then the element WP8544771 is bad. Hope this helps.
