Nate H. for Model Number GHW9150PW0

In the past I have dealt with intermittent DL Fault Codes, but nothing that took more than making sure the wires connectors had good contacts. I just got through replacing the door lid switch assembly after my unit would not lock in either the washing or diagnostic modes. After replacing the lid switch the washer now makes it through the diagnostic cycle with no issues, but the door does not lock when trying to run an actual washing cycle and it goes into a DL Fault. Do I need the Electronic Control (8182664)?

1 Answer

Hello Nate. Yes, you will need to order a new control board if it works in diagnostics and does not work in a regular cycle.

Hello AGP, You shouldn't have to press that. Try unplugging the unit for about 20 minutes and clear all memory and then plug it in and see what it does.

The wash selector is limited to the handwash(30 min) and delicate mode (35 min). When turned to the Normal/Casual setting the Delicate light goes on and the time to complete is 35 min. When turned to heavy duty, the handwash light goes on and the time is limited to 30 min. The Whitest White setting no longer selects a time and shows 3 bars (- - -). All of the rinse modes work properly and the self diagnostic mode doesn't show any error codes. Unplugging the washer overnight and reconnecting it doesn't resolve the problem. Could this be a user interface problem? Thanks. Mitch Halter Is this a user interface problem?

1 Answer

Mitchell, Based on there not showing any error codes and the unit having the problems that is going on, this would most likely be caused by a faulty user interface WP8182785.

Hello George. The communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly. Possible Causes/Procedure - Unplug washer or disconnect power. - Check that the power cord terminals are connected at the right position to the RFI filter (white-Neutral/ black-Line). - Make sure that the two ground switches are pressed correctly by the toe and rear panels. - Make sure that ground switches are installed correctly, are not broken, and that the green ground wires are connected correctly. - Make sure that both ground switches are not broken or scratched. - Make sure that all the ground harnesses (green wires) are connected correctly, and are not broken or with wires detached. - Make sure that all wire harness connections from the CCU (MI3 cavity), main Motor, and MCU are not broken or with wires detached, and that connector internal pins are visible. - Check for continuity from the MCU connector wires to CCU (MI3 cavity) connector. - If the continuity diagnosis failed, the Main Harness must be replaced. - Make sure that all the connectors are fully seated. - Check the drive system for any worn or failed components. - Plug in washer or reconnect power. - Verify the washer operation by running the Diagnostic Test cycle. See page 5. - After the diagnostic test has finished, unplug washer or disconnect power and wait for 15 seconds.

Hello Julie. Based on the error code provided, A communication error between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the EEPROM onboard the CCU occurred. A power glitch may cause this error. – Unplug washer or disconnect power for two minutes. If issue continues, Replace CCU board.

Hello Brenda. If the washer will agitate but does not spin, you will need to check and see if the lid switch WP3949238 is bad and needs to be replaced on the unit.

Hello Christina, The F-11 code is a loss of communication between the main board and the motor board. The DL code is a door lock code. Most of the fault codes I've encountered with this combination turn out to be a bad connection between the two boards or a bad board. When the door lock code comes up with the F-11, the door latch is seldom bad but it will just go away when the F-11 code is eliminated. This is not always the case, but many times it is. If unplugging and reconnecting each connector on the board one at a time doesn't clear the code, you will have to replace the board because a relay on the board has most likely failed.

Hi Diana. Check to see if the inner door strike is broken. It is made to float in place to allow the proper closing and staying latched while spinning. Strike part # WP8181651. If this does not do it, then you need to use the supplied tech sheet inside the unit. Use the field diagnostic mode to see if any hard codes are stored. Main control board part # WP8182664. Thank You.

Fred for Model Number GHW9250MQ0

intermittent no power now has become permanent. No lights or LED readout available and no power up click on CCU.( Only response from control panel is Control Lock LED will cycle through being illuminated and off if you press the end of cycle button > 3 secs have taken top off unit I verified: 110v into and out of line filter 110v into CCU as stated but no power up click in CCU Am using the PDF reference file L68 whirlpool Job Aid where reference is made: page 41 (5-3) component testing of door switch requires power door lock to be operational which it is not. Ohm reading is infinity due to NO switch unlocked page 41 (5-3). I assume that the Diagnostic test is not available if one doesn't have power to the control panel. Door lock /unlock solenoid test points read 70 & 132 ohms per diagram 3-2,3-1 but read 70 and 62 ohm when testing 3-2,2-1 So questions. 1. If no CCU click but 110 present at CCU - is that definitively ONLY a bad CCU or could it be the door latch assy and/or control panel be at fault feeding the CCU? L-68 Troubleshooting guide (6-10 won't power up #2 indicates to go NO FURTHER than replacement. 2. simply ordering the AP3859567 will fix the issue or could there be another problem?

Hello Fred. If the control lock works, but everything else does not, you will need to replace the user interface WP8182056 in the unit. Hope this helps.
