For Whirlpool Refrigerator Compressor (Part Number: OEM13071318)

Uspp! for Model Number ARB8057CSL

I have an Amana refrigerator with a bottom freezer. At 7yrs of age the compressor went. After a $760 repair the compressor failed again (4 mos)and for some odd reason the new compressor was not available for three months. I am wondering if the first replacement compressor was not the right one and caused a major failure where the tech now says the refrig is not repairable due to oil bound lines. The first repalcement is an EMBRACO EGYS-80HLP. Is that correct replacement compressor? Or did they do my refrig in by installing the wrong type and cook my frig. as the tech also stated that it overheated and melted the pan. I am unable to cross reference the compressor that Amana says should be in the unit a W10160407.

Hello USPP. Based on the model number you provided, the correct compressor W10309990 was ordered and installed. If there is oil in the lines and there was a burn out, the system could have been restricted causing it to overheat. Hope this helps.

Hello Bill. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like there is a restriction in the sealed system. You will need to blow out the system with nitrous and see if you can clear the restriction. Hope this helps.

HI Fred. If you can hear the noise and it is exactly comming from the compressor, then you might have internal damage. We are here to support all factory trained technicians as they may have received a defective compressor unawhere in a new undamaged box. I would suggest renting a fridge and having this one warrenty replaced again. Good luck. Thank you.

Hello Robert. This is the correct replacement compressor for your model. It does not come pre-charged. You can do the repair yourself, but will need special tools for the recovery and install, and by law you have to have a license to buy the freon. Hope this helps.
