Tim F July 20, 2012 for Model Number mbl2556kes Just had a repairman tell me the I have a bad CO system. Is that the same as the motor. Looking to due the work myself and need advice. Can't believe my maytag is only 5 years old and I am having this type of problem. I have the old fridge it replace in the garage and it still runs fine.
1 Answer Tim, We have no idea what the repairman means by "CO System". You may need to contact him, and get an explanation. But, if it is a sealed sytem failure and you do need a compressor replaced, That won't be a project you can perform. With the special licenses required, and the special tools, guages, and meters needed, you would need a repairman to do the repair. You may want to contact the manufacturer and verify the warranty on a sealed system on your unit, it may save you some money. Thanks Read More...

Bernadette February 20, 2012 for Model Number arse662bw (amana) Can this refrigerator be recharged and if so where would the charge points are located?
2 Answers Bernadette, Any sealed system can be recharged. There is special valve that have to soldered into place for the freon to be charged into. On this compressor there are 3 lines, the high side (discharge line), the low side (suction line) and the process stub. It's the process stub where the charging valve would be soldered on to. Hopefully you have all the equipment to do a sealed system job. It requires, torches, pressure gauges, vacumn pump, charging gauge, and by law the old freon has to be captured. If you are having a qualified tech doing the repair, he should have all of the above along with the charging valve, it's part of doing a sealed system job. Read More...

2 Answers Hi Bernadette. Yes this compressor kit part # W10160407 needs charged by a certified sealed system appliance repairman. It is a complicated process of charging the low side after the systems moisture is completely gone and the unit can hold a vacuum for sometime. I cannot explain the complete process. It normally takes a couple of hours. Thank You. Read More...
Mac February 03, 2012 for Model Number SXD26VE I have an amana side by side. After several power surges it will not cool as it should. 22 deg in freezer and 40 in fridge is as low as it will go if you leave the door closed. All fans are working ok. Defrost system functioning ok. The evap coil will only frost over an inch or two from the top. It used to frost all the was down very quickly after start up. Although the compressor is running can it not be running properly due to a bad start device? Or is the compressor damaged and just not pumping as is used to?
1 Answer Mac, It sounds more like the sealed system is restricted, or the compressor has become inefficient. Either condition could have occurred because of the power supply issues, or age/usage. The start device may be opening early due to the restriction, but otherwise it is attempting to cool and run. You'll need guages and a meter to test for proper operation, and you probably aren't equipped with the tools, etc. to diagnose the issue. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...

Sean October 03, 2011 for Model Number ARB9058CS Hello, this compressor came with what appears to be a dryer. Judging by the fact that it has the phrase 'UV DYE' stamped on it, I imagine it also contains dye for leak detection. Is this indeed a refrigerant dryer, and if so, should it be installed in the same location that dryers usually are, i.e., on the liquid line before the metering device? Thank you again.
1 Answer Hello Sean. Yes, the dryer need to be replaced with the one that is already on the refrigerator. Do this as you install the compressor W10160407. Hope this helps. Read More...
