Rose April 17, 2012 for Model Number DU1145XTPB3 Our dw was working fine until one day the "Clean" light continued to flash. I looked it up in the manual and saw that was the indication that there was something wrong with the heating circuit. I then looked inside the machine and saw that the heating element had completely broke in two pcs. I ordered a new heating element from Whirlpool and my husband installed it. However, the dw still does not work. I called a repair service and was told that I needed to order a new control board when ever changing out the heating element. However, I am getting mixed info and not any helpful verification if this is really true. Everything else about the DW was working fine until the heating element broke. My question is: "When replacing the heating element, does the control board also need to be replaced?" I've read through the above Q&A and only found one that was close to my question, however the answer is all about the door panel items which all of those things worked just fine on our machine prior to the broken ht element. PLEASE help, I just want to find the correct info and get this machine working again. I have 3 hungry teenage boys and am fed up with hand washing dishes.

Ron December 13, 2011 for Model Number GU2400XTPS7 The console works fine. Is there a cheaper way to fix the problem instead of purchasing the whole console assembly?

Peter July 17, 2011 for Model Number gu2400 The control panel has two dashes "- -" in the two digit display box. According to the owner's manual, the unit won't start because it thinks that the door isn't closed. Tested both switches with continuity meter - both switches are good, and when I hold or realease the plungers manually, no change. Power good to electronics, but unit won't begin any cycle. I assumed electronics failure and would be fine with buying a curcuit board if I know that was the problem - checked ribbon cable and all connections...nothing burned, all clean. Any thoughts before I start throwing wrenches or buy a new dishwasher for my daughter-in-law?
1 Answer Hi Peter. We will need the exact model # to get you the correct part. Thank you. Read More...
