Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before attempting any service to avoid shock or injury
  • Handle the capillary tube/sensor carefully — avoid kinks or sharp bends
  • Basic hand tools are usually required; refer to the appliance service manual for exact steps

Jeffrey, The basic checks are at the freezer door and gasket, especially along the top seal, check the shelves, make sure there are no articles blocking the air flow on the sides or back of the shelves. Listen and feel for the evaporator fan, is it running, can you feel the air blowing towards you from the grille. is there a heavy frost or ice built up on the lower back panel, indicating a defrost issue. Remove the front grille and check and clean any debris from the grille and condenser.

I have to replace my thermostat with part no. 83053-002. I am ready to order the part, but I have not figures out how to deal will I assume with the sensor wire. I unscrewed the case located at the top of the right wall of the freezer and located the thermostat that has to be replaced. A wire which t I assume is the sensor goes into a white tube and goes somewhere behind the freezer wall. How do I remove and replace that part?

Rudy, To replace the thermostat you may also need to take the lower cover of the freezer compartment off and then you would just pull the thermostat tube out of the white tube. Once you get the old one out you would push the new one in. It may be screwed down behind the lower wall.

Brenda, If there is no power going to the compressor then most likely the cause would be either the thermostat or the defrost timer. The defrost timer would be the most likely cause.
