Myra June 26, 2020 for Model Number WRS571CIDM01 There is an intermittent grinding sound coming from the fridge. The noise occurs at different (random) times and varies in length. The sound is definitely coming from the fridge section. Could this be a diffuser/damper issue?
1 Answer Myra, as the diffuser W11164593 would be the only moving part in the refrigerator section, it is very likely that it is the cause. It is likely that there is a stripped gear that is grinding when the diffuser is opening or closing. Read More...
Shawna May 28, 2020 for Model Number 10651133210 My freezer is cold but my refrigerator is warm. Ice maker not functioning properly (intermittently creating ice). Checked the defrost and the defrost thermostat- both good. One day after full defrost the area behind the back panel in the freezer was completely frozen over again. Could the diffuser have something to do with all this? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Shawna, This sounds like the unit is short cycling. I would first try replacing the defrost thermostat WPW10225581. The unit should also sit idle for several minutes after the defrost thermostat opens to allow time for the melted frost to make its' way down the defrost drain. I would also check for any possible air leaks which would add room humidity which would cause excessive frost buildup. It is doubtful that the diffuser would have anything to do with the frost accumulation. Read More...
