Brian October 11, 2012 for Model Number khms155lss-4 My kitchaid mircowave powers up as usual except it is not heating... It does not make any unusual noises except I use to hear the power kick in once it sensed what it was cooking and now it doesn't.. Where should I start?
1 Answer Hi. Use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. Use the tech. sheet inside the control panel to assist you. You need to see if the control board is sending the 120 vac to the primary side of the transformer only. If so then the control board is OK. From this point on you do- NOT-check live voltage! You only ohm test the high voltage devices one at a time. Ohm out the magnetron part # W10245183 for one ohm and not open. 1 Answer Dhardy, The diode wiring is : One end attaches to the chassis ground(in the direction of the arrow on the diode). The other end attaches to the capacitor on the "Red wire or hot" side of the assembly. The White wire from the transformer is on one terminal and by itself. the diode wire, the red wire to the magnetron, and the other wire from the transformer all attach to the other capacitor connector. Sara M. June 15, 2011 for Model Number MH3184XPS-1 Microwave will not heat and makes loud humming noise. Everything else works perfectly. I did some research and found the it may be the diode (if there is humming noise) or the magnetron circuit (will still sound normal but won't heat. I am assuming it is the diode. Could you be of any assistance?
1 Answer Hello Sara. You can have a bad magnetron W10222507 and a bad diode W11256462 causing the problems your having. You can look for crack in the magnets and a burnt tip on the magnetron. Also you can test the diode to see if it is good. It should only read in one direction. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter.
