Chuck October 29, 2018 for Model Number MDG3000AWW Hi, I’m trying to troubleshoot my moisture sensor. I’ve grounded the moisture sensor wire (blue wire) to ground, but the moisture sensor display remains on 1 bar. I assume this means the dry control board is broken The voltage of the sensor circuit is very small (50 mV) The resistance of the moisture sensor changes when I wet it, so I think it works Any ideas what the voltage of this circuit should be? Any ideas what the resistance of the moisture sensor should be when wet?
1 Answer Chuck, It's not quite that elaborate a system. The bottom light of the dryness display is always on, top light blinks, with a wet load, bottom light on until cool down cycle. Make sure the metal strips of the sensor bar are clean and not coated with debris or coated with oil from the fabric sheets/softener. with a dry bar, there should be an "Open" circuit across the sensor bar terminals. when a wet or metal article is placed across the bars, there should be a Closed" circuit. The wet clothes "hitting" the sensor bar creates a circuit to ground, this reduces the voltage to the timer through the PTC on the dryness control board. When the articles dry, the circuit to ground is eliminated and the PTC on the control board allows the voltage increase to the timer and it advances to the OFF position. It is a millivolt system and usually operates between 50 and 100 mV. You're on track, you most likely have a faulty dryness display board, but first check for any loose connections at the dryness control board first. Read More...
George August 07, 2017 for Model Number MDG8000BWW Dryer heats but clothes are still damp at end of cycle. Dryness indicator light only shows less dry not high. Replaced Dryness control board and still does not work. Also replaced moisture sensor with a tested used one since it is no longer available. Will replacing the timer help or should I just kick this thing to the curb. Thanks!
1 Answer George you will want to check venting of the unit from the blower wheel to the outside of the home to make sure that the vent is clear as this will be the most likely cause. Read More...
Robin September 25, 2016 for Model Number MDG3500BWW Maytag Dryer, Got this dryer used in great working shape? The timer will not advance, due to that, will not shut off, manual have to shut off, by opening door or manual turning knob. Replaced timer and thermal fuse. Didn't solve problem. So looked into Thermostat, don't believe that's the problem, due to no problems with heat, unit gets hot. Next maybe Control board. Please tell me what you believe at this stage.
1 Answer Robin, The timer motor is routed through the dryness control board and if this board is defective it will cause the timer not to advance. The part number for the control board is [AP33002389]. Read More...
Remtedb July 15, 2015 for Model Number MDE6000AZW On my Maytag Atlantis MDE6000AZW electric dryer, the unit will not stop drying if in any of the Auto modes -- machine runs forever with heating unit on and clothes get extremely hot. The timed mode, however, does work but clothes are also very hot at the end (perhaps because too much time is selected; not sure). Vent is clear. Because the timed mode works, that seems to suggest that it is not a problem with the timer. What I'm not sure about is whether the behavior is due to a Dryness Display (33002389) problem, or with one of the thermostats -- Cycling (3387137) or Hi Limit (303396). Thanks for your help!
1 Answer Remtedb, This issue with the unit not advancing the auto and getting too hot in the dryer would be a dryness display issue. The part number needed would be WP33002389. Read More...
Dave K. November 07, 2014 for Model Number MDE4000AYQ I need a dryness control board for a bisque dryer Maytag model MDE4000AYQ. The bisque version is no longer available. Can I use the dryness control board for an MDE4000AYW? I think the only difference is the color, correct? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Dave, I'm sorry but this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. The white one WP33002389 will operate properly. Read More...
Da September 06, 2013 for Model Number mde7600ayw Our Maytag dryer is only partially working on permanent press cycle on the medium or regular setting. I have replaced the timer, heating element and hi-low thermostat. I really am in a lost to what to try next. I have check the vents and electric to the dryer and all that seems normal. I was wondering if the dryer control panel could be the problem thanks for any assistance
1 Answer Da, The most likely cause of the unit not operating properly would be the electronic dryness control WP33002389. Read More...
Doug December 12, 2012 for Model Number mde7600ayw Will the dryness display/ electronic dry control board keep the heat from turning on? Is there a way to jump it out to see if the heat will work? tested the continuity on heater and fuse they are ok. Thanks, Doug
1 Answer Hello Doug, The Dry control does not have anything to with the heat not coming on. You will want to double check all thermal fuses, thermostats and heater to make sure that they have continuity. Make sure that you check your L2 supply to make sure that you are not loosing that leg to the heater. You also want to check to make sure that you are not loosing your leg from your timer or from the motor. Read More...
William A. October 25, 2012 for Model Number MUE2000AYW Exactly the same problem that JIMI has with the MDE3500AYW on a MUE2000AYW.btw What is the dryness control board or does the MUE2000 have something different?
1 Answer Hello William, The model that you have does have a dryness control WP33001212. You would first check and make sure you have a neutral connection to the dryer and the white wire at the dryness control board. Also check the brown wire from the display board to the timer motor terminal on the timer. If you have the circuits on the wires, then replace the dryness control board. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Dan October 17, 2012 for Model Number mde4000ayw Can I bypass the moisture control/dryness sensor to see if the dryer will work before I order one? I replaced the rollers and got a ground wire in the wrong place and when I turn on the dryer it blow that circut. Thanks
1 Answer Dan, There are a couple of tetst and "jumps" you can make at the dryness control board assembly. On the four wire, five pin connector on the control, you can jump across white pin#3 and Brown pin#2 with a paperclip or similar tool(just don't touch the jumper once installed) This will complete the neutral circuit to the timer motor, and the timer should advance. You can alos disconnect the blue #19 wire from the board terminal. This will make the control think the load is dry and the timer should also advance towards the off position in an auto dry setting. Alvie May 16, 2012 for Model Number MDE5960AYW Dryer will not heat up. Change heating element still no heat and mositure indicator only lights up on less mositure, so I cleaned mositure sensor and still no heat. Can this be the mositure indicator?
1 Answer Hello Alive. If there is a bad connection or part, it can always affect the unit. However, in this case, it sounds like either the thermostats or thermal cut-offs are bad or there may be a voltage issue. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity.
