Gene, If you have 120 VAV across the black wire pin 4, and white wires pin 2 on the P16 connector on the main control board, then Yes you'd have a faulty control board.

When I came home the the 44 minutes time remaining light and bulky item light, normal soil level light, warm/cold water temp light, cycle signal lights were on. I pushed the stop/cancel button but it beeps and all lights come back on, I push the cycle buttons but nothing happens the lights just stay on. To turn off the lights I push and hold the stop/ cancel button and push one of the cycle buttons to turn off all the lights. What is the cause the electric control AP3837551? Thanks for any help

Mike, The issue with the lights staying on and not responding sounds more likely to be a user interface issue rather than the control board. The part number for the control panel is WP8563809. This sounds like there would be a stuck key on the control.

Hi My washer wont finish a cycle,it starts out ok then half way through it starts acting funny, water pump turns on and off,on and off,on and off, then it attempts to wash or spin then it stops seems like timer doesnt change either when it gets hung up. Ive had the machine overhauled last august,u joint, leveler, and new wash plate. Can you tell me what it is? There are no codes coming up. once when i opened the lid while it was working to throw something else in and quickly restarted it i got a code of C1. It wasnt overloaded either. Maybe i didnt give it enough time to reset itself. Any advice? Also Can you tell me the year this machine was made by my model number? Thanks Mike G

Mike, We would not be able to advise based on the model number the year of production. As for the issue that you are having with the unit it sounds like the main control board is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Rick, You'll need to check the drive system 285927 to see if it has failed and "jammed" up and won't drive the wash plate and associated parts. Also check the motor 285917. You didn't mention any error codes or abnormal noises, but with the parts you've replaced that pretty much makes it a mechanical failure vs electrical.

Since two weeks after buying this washer I have had the control board replaced 3 times. Two weeks ago I bought a new, in the box from that auction place and the washer worked as it should for 11 days. But now its back to not working. After reading all the post, I thought it better to check with you first before buying another one. When you push the normal button for wash, most of the time, the washer does nothing. If by chance it does work, it will wash and complete its cycles but switches from extended spin, like some one is standing there pushing the button and pushing it off. When the machine won't do anything, all of the push buttons are dead, if you push just the start button it goes right to 7 min of extended spin but won't start the spin cycle. That makes me think it may be the push button touch pad and not the control board is bad. But then again why did it work with the new board in it for 11 days and many of backed up loads of wash! I know this reads like a book, but I really need help to fix the machine correctly. Please help stop the madness! THANKS !!!!

Hello Bill. Yes, it sounds like the console WP8563809 is bad. It sounds like the console works for a few days because you are unplugging and then replugging it in.

Glenn, The Electronic Control board [AP3837551}, isn't the place to start. The control panel / keypad assembly WP8563809 is more likely to be the issue, for a complaint like yours.

Hello John, You could have an article of clothing between the tubs, a bad motor 285917, or a bad motor control WP8541034. I would recommend to pull the tech sheet from the inside of the front of the cabinet and run the diagnostic tests. The fault codes will point you in the direction you need to test to pinpoint the issue.

Gary K for Model Number GVW9959KQ2 Whirlpool Calypso Washer

Washer starts on it's own. It will light up 8 min on timer and light up the light above extend spin cycle. I have pushed start let it count down and run thru cycle. About 5 minutes after it completes cycle it will do the same thing. I have pushed the button repeatedly while it is lit up and prior to hitting start. It beeps like the button is not stuck and hung up or anything. I opened it up and checked all connections and ribbon connector to control board. Everything looks good,,You can hit cancel, it will clear the number 8 from timer for about 5 minutes and then it come back, always same number. 8 and lights up extra spin light. Unplugging washer is only cure, Plug it back in and number 8 comes back with in a couple minutes. Question: control panel or control board...???? All the forums say control panel but button does' t appear stuck, shorted out maybe but it beeps when I push it...??
