For Whirlpool Electronic Control (Part Number: OEM11512662)

John M for Model Number GVW9959KQ2

Control Board on occasion starts itself and registers 44 on the machine. Some times you can turn the unit off on the panel and it will stay off then other times it will keep turning back on to the 44 setting (the 44 is the setting for a normal wash). When it keeps coming back on the only way to stop it from coming on is to unplug the machine. When the machine is plugged back in the washer works normally until the next episode begins. Will replacing the Electronic Control (Part AP3837551 MFG Part 8571359) correct this problem?

Hello John. Based on the information you provided, there is a stuck button and you will need to replace the control panel WP8563809 on the unit.

Touch pads do nothing when you touch them. I have checked the control board with a multi tester. I get line voltage at pins 2 and 4 of P16 on the control board. I get .35 V on pins 1 and 5 of the same P16 and on pins 1 and 2 of P1 on the motor board. I am afraid that the control board needs replaced, and at over $200, that it might not be worth fixing this machine after all the repair problems I have run across trying to figure out my problem. Anyone have an answer?

Hi Elmer. Make sure the drain pump part # 285990 impeller is not spinning loose on the shaft and not allowing proper drain. Remove the hose off the pressure switch and blow back in towards the tub. If you removed a slight restriction then this will "reset" the proper fill amount allowing the wash cycle to continue its cycle again. Use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. It will be advantageous to find the supplied tech sheet inside the cabinet to aid you in the diagnosis. It allows you to put the unit in a diagnostic mode which brings up fault codes and tells you which circuit needs assistance. Thank You.

Hi Jonathan. Is your washer giving any F- codes ? A code will direct you to the area where most likely the problem might be. However, try to hold the door closed tightly and see if it will continue to run. If so, then replace the lid switch assembly part # WP8272124. Also, double check the fill hoses to insure the water valve inlet screens are not plugged. These screens will often get plugged with sediment and need flushed to allow correct timed water fill. Please let us know if we can assist further. Thank- you
