Radiant surface element for smooth-top electric ranges that restores consistent heat to a 6-inch burner so cookware can reach and maintain proper cooking temperatures. Ideal when a burner fails to heat evenly or stops working. What it does:

  • Heats cookware via the cooktop's 6-inch radiant zone for boiling, simmering, and frying.
  • Replaces a worn or damaged smooth-top element to restore normal burner performance.
  • Common symptoms: burner won't heat, only part of the burner heats, or the burner cycles instead of holding steady heat.
  • Designed for glass/ceramic cooktops—handle carefully to avoid damage.
What's included: One radiant surface element. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the range before beginning any repair to prevent electrical shock.
  • Allow the cooktop to fully cool; handle the glass element carefully to avoid chipping or cracking.
  • Seat electrical connectors securely and align the element in the cooktop opening; do not force.

Hello Tony. I'm sorry but there are no instructions for this job in print. Basically, you will have to remove the unit from the installation so it can be opened to access the wiring. This is done by removing the screws around the perimeter and inside the openings that retain the main top to the unit. Once opened, simply place the wiring in the same configuration as originally and be sure they are properly connected. Of course the re-assembly is in the reverse order.

Gene, You will want to check to see if there is power getting to the grill element. If there is power then the element will be faulty and if there is not power then the issue will most likely be in the infinite switch.

Hello Joe. No one is showing the 2 elements crossing over. They do look like they are measuring the same. However, we can not recommend it if the manufacture does not recommend it. Sorry.

Hello T.J., To replace the element, you will need to turn off the power to the unit and verify the voltage is off before beginning. You will then remove the two screws retaining the element and the screws retaining the control escutcheon. The wires will need to be traced to the infinite switch to replace it. Be sure to note the wiring connections before unplugging, (a picture with a cell phone works great). You may need a short piece of string to pull through with the old wires and use it to pull in the new wires.

Gene, To replace the burner you would need to lift the cooktop from installation. You will have to remove the vent grill and remove the screws holding the down draft to make it easier, then lift out from the cabinet and remove the screws around the perimeter to get the glass top off. Once off you will have access to the burners to replace.

Hello Chuck! Unfortunately, the suggested elements for your model has been discontinued with no further replacements or cross references available. Our company is unaware of any other available sources and can not suggest that either of the two inquired parts will work on your model. 71003237 is a 240v grille element, unfortunately, we do not have the wattage. Sorry about that!
