The Water Filter is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It is designed to filter and purify the water for your refrigerator, ensuring clean and fresh drinking water and ice.

A bad refrigerator water filter can be caused by regular use and the buildup of contaminants over time. It may also become less effective if not replaced according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule.

Symptoms of a bad refrigerator water filter include:

  • A decrease in water flow or water pressure.
  • An unpleasant taste or odor in the water.
  • The presence of particles or sediment in the water.
  • Cloudy or discolored ice cubes.

If you notice any of these signs or if it has been more than six months since your last filter replacement, it's time to replace the refrigerator water filter with this genuine OEM part. This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Hello Jerry. You will press in on the clip and drop down the housing cover. Then you will unscrew the old water filter and screw in the new filter EDR4RXD1. After installing the filter, you will need to run about 2 gallons of water through the dispenser to remove any air in the lines. Hope this helps.

Hello Don! Here is what is stated in your owners manual: "Replace the disposable water filter when the water filter status display changes to “REPLACE.” The REPLACE (red) icon will blink and an alert beep will sound one time after water is dispensed. If water flow to your water dispenser or ice maker decreases noticeably, change the filter sooner. The disposable water filter should be replaced at least every 6 months depending on your water quality and usage." Your water filter is part number EDR4RXD1. Hope this information helps you! Thanks!

Donna C. for Model Number UKF8001AXX

This was the original filter number for my Maytag Ice20 refrigerator. Apparently this has been replaced with Whirlpool #4396395. this new filter doesn't let water flow. I just spent $200 to have lines and valves replaced with no change. When we took out the NEW filter and put in the plug it worked fine. The repair man showed me that inside after you peel off the foil seal there are 2 wings that when you twist the filter in are supposed to open the water valve. The wings on the new filters are not tall enough to open the water value-you can see the difference in the filter and plug. Do you have old Maytag filters we can buy?..

Original Question: When I replace the water filter in my Jenn-Air refrigerator, the water pressure decreases dramatically. I've tried several new filters. Suggestions? Your Answer: HI Suzanne. Are there any kinks in your water line (behind your fridge)? The water valve you need is part # AP4433819.Try these suggestions. Thank- you. New Question: There's not a kink in the water line because when we remove the water filter, the water flow is excellent. Any other suggestions?

Hello Suzanne, the correct water filter for this unit is EDR4RXD1. After you install the water filter, you should atleast run 1 gallon through the water dispenser to purge any air in the system. Have you done this after installing the correct filter?
