Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Refrigerator Water Dispenser Tube Kit (Part Number: OEM9539871)

Pete, the model provided, would utilize a solenoid valve found in a different section of the appliance. However, if it is not leaking by, the valve would not be necessary. The bracket for the hose should be the same based on the design of the model provided and the water hose replacements are all going to be the same material.

Tom for Model Number KSRT25FWMS01

I have a Kitchenaid/Whirlpool KSRT25FWMS01 refrigerator. I have consistent freezing of the water line going to the water dispenser. The ice maker line does not freeze. I have raised the temperature of the freezer to its maximum. It usually stays around +5 F. Sometimes water leaks out of the bottom of the freezer door where the water line comes out. Maybe a freeze-thaw thing going on. I thought about replacing the water line, however, the new one may just freeze up as well. do you think I have something going on inside the freezer door with the insulation? Thanks! Tom

1 Answer

Tom, with water leaking out where the water tubing is, this would indicate the insulation of the door having an issue and the door LW10149884 would need to be replaced. Unfortunately, the door has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available.

Rhonda, If you have just replaced the filter there may be water in the line and you will need to draw at least a gallon of water out the door to remove all the air from the filter replacement. If no new filter then the water valve W10853654 likely has an issue and would need to be replaced.

Mike H for Model Number KSSS42QHT00

I am trying to install a Dispenser Water Tube Kit 8201537 into my Kitchenaid KSSS42QHT00 built-in refrigerator. The old tube broke off behind the water dispenser in the freezer door. The broken tube is black. I can see a clear tube that comes out of the bottom of the door. I assume that there is a coupling between the black and clear tube inside the door. I cannot reach the black tube behind the water dispenser. The clear tube on the bottom of the door is stuck. I tried pulling it but it would not move. My freezer door is filled with foam and it does not appear that I can access the path that tube follows (due to the sprayed foam. I cannot fit the new tube into the hole on the bottom of the door with the old tube still there. I am afraid to pull hard on the old tube because I might break something. Can you recommend a method for running the new tube through the freezer door?

The kit you have is not for this model. In this model, the line is only replaceable with the door panel 2221137T which is no longer available.

Darrin, Check to see if it is the coupler that is leaking. If it is not and it is coming from inside the freezer door then this will be an issue with a damaged water line. To correct this you would need to replace the waterline part number 8201537. This is not the easiest repair but can be done without service. You would need to remove the dispenser cover and disconnect the water line at the bottom of the door. Make sure that the water supply is turned off. Once you have this done you will then also want to remove the door from the unit. With the door laying on a blanket or sheet with the dispenser facing up, you can remove the tubing that is in the door and then push the new one in place. The reason for removing the door is because when you feed the new line in the hinge would get in the way. Once it is in place, reverse the steps to reinstall the door.

Chris, the new plastic end of the water tube may be different in shape but will work the same, it is not uncommon for manufactures to alter the shape of parts.

Eric, This would be 1/4" tubing. We do not have specifics on the inner diameter and length of the tube.

Kevin, it sounds like the edge of the tubing is getting stuck on the insulation. Usually, it is easiest to attach a string to the original tubing before pulling it out so that the line can be used to guide the new tubing. However, as the original one has been pulled out, if a bit of electrical tape is used to make a rounded tip, it may allow for the tubing to pass through the insulation without a problem.
