Paul for Model Number Kenmore Elite Side x Side refrigerator model 2534438340

I replaced the water actuator paddle on my Kenmore elite side by side and am having trouble reconnecting the water tube that is used in this configuration.. It is tube of short length that runs from the back surface of the ice and water dispenser section to the water outlet . I had a difficult time puling the fron end of the tube out in order to access the panel to change the paddle. Changing the paddle was easy and per the video, but re installing the water tube is difficult due to the short length of the existing tube> Is there a proper part to replace this tube or a special way to re connect the existing tube?

1 Answer

Paul, If there is an opening at the front of the dispenser you would want to use needle nose pliers to push the tube back into place. It is recommended to try to get the tube in place before reinserting the housing.

Jim, I wish there was a finesse move to remove this and i will say there is a high probability of a tab breaking so proceed with caution. I would remove the lower drip tray and use a putty knife between the door and cover pressing down and out while at the same time pushing down at the top of the housing cover to relieve some pressure.

Watched your video on replacement of dispenser water tube line (AP3179954) from water dispenser to bottom of frig behind grill. However, this video only addresses that portion of the line from the union to the dispenser. I have a leak in the vegetable tray compartment coming from the inside back wall of the frig behind the 2nd vegetable bin from the bottom every time I depress the water dispenser. There must be another hose that is leaking between dispenser and water valve, but how do I get to it to replace it and do you sell that tube kit? I can't find the video on this. Before the leak started happening, water dispenser would intermittently work. I chalked that up to the line freezing occasionally and decided to buy a new defrost thermostat. But haven't installed it yet since the leak started a few days ago. Are these two issues related?

David, If you have a leak behind the crisper drawers then this will most likely be caused by a water reservoir that is leaking and would be part number WPW10276792.

Jerry for Model Number Kenmore 106.53609202

I changed the filter on the refrigerator and ran several gallons of water to clear the air; however, water keeps dripping from the water dispenser. In looking at the replacement part it does not come with an anti drip valve. Is there an anti drip valve available? Could it possibly be a different component has gone bad? I completely removed the filter since the book indicated it could be run without a filter but it continues to drip. Any advice other than just cutting offf the water supply and replacing refrigerator?

1 Answer

Jerry, For this issue you would want to install a check valve 8201815 at the lower part of the door where the water lines are installed to keep this from dripping.

Colin, that tube that runs up through the door hinge to the water dispenser is not a replaceable item.

Hello Jason, This is most commonly caused by broken pins on the dispenser bracket WP2180226 which hold the dispenser switches in place.
