Nicholas M. August 14, 2015 for Model Number KSSC48FJS00 I have a built in unit KSSC48FJS00 and I am having a nightmare because the doors especially the freezer door is not closing properly. When you open the refrigerator door and look at the freezer door from the side you can see a very big gap between the gasket and the door frame. This is a gasket that I installed 6 weeks ago and was in my closet as spare. Initially I installed it with some bents that it came with not knowing I was supposed to put it in a hot tub to remove the pleats. Then I removed it from the door and did that to no avail. My door frame is plastic and I don't believe this gasket has magnet. Can you explain to me what is supposed to make the gasket seat tight against the frame? I just bought a new gasket from you and hope that this gasket is the original one and will seat tight against the frame.
1 Answer Hello Nicholas, The door seal has flexible manmade magnets inside it and it has to meet up with the metal part of the cabinet face. The seal may need to be heated with a hair dryer to induce seating to the cabinet face. Also, in some cases, the hinge spacers may need to be removed or more added to accommodate the installation of a replacement part. This spaces the door panel closer or further from the cabinet face. I would verify the part is correct for your model number since the part was in a closet and could possibly be designed for another model. Read More...
Frank G July 19, 2012 for Model Number KSSC48MH500 Referigator and freezer door seals, have replaced them two times and they still won't seal tightly. When one door is closed the other one pops open. Is this because of faulty seals? If I purchase new seals again are they going to seal properly?
1 Answer Hello Frank. You need to check and see if the springs 2004566 on the doors are broke and need to be replaced. This will cause the issue you are having as well. Read More...
John E. October 20, 2011 for Model Number KSSS36QDW04 1 Some times door does not close normally or with less normal reistance to opening. Gasget on bottom partial split. If manipulate gasket can get normal closing for a while. 2 Instructions on how to install gasket Thank you
1 Answer Hello John. Remove the door from the unit. Lay the door on a soft surface and remove the screws under the gasket. Once removed, you can remove the old gasket and install the new gasket 2188319A. Start at the corners and work your way around the door. Once the gasket is installed, you will install the door back onto the unit. You may need to use a hair dryer and heat the gasket and form it to the frame of the unit. Be careful not to melt the gasket when trying to form the gasket with the hair dryer. Hope this helps. Read More...
