Nicholas M. for Model Number KSSC48FJS00 I have a built in unit KSSC48FJS00 and I am having a nightmare because the doors especially the freezer door is not closing properly. When you open the refrigerator door and look at the freezer door from the side you can see a very big gap between the gasket and the door frame. This is a gasket that I installed 6 weeks ago and was in my closet as spare. Initially I installed it with some bents that it came with not knowing I was supposed to put it in a hot tub to remove the pleats. Then I removed it from the door and did that to no avail. My door frame is plastic and I don't believe this gasket has magnet. Can you explain to me what is supposed to make the gasket seat tight against the frame? I just bought a new gasket from you and hope that this gasket is the original one and will seat tight against the frame.
Answer Hello Nicholas, The door seal has flexible manmade magnets inside it and it has to meet up with the metal part of the cabinet face. The seal may need to be heated with a hair dryer to induce seating to the cabinet face. Also, in some cases, the hinge spacers may need to be removed or more added to accommodate the installation of a replacement part. This spaces the door panel closer or further from the cabinet face. I would verify the part is correct for your model number since the part was in a closet and could possibly be designed for another model. Read More...
