John L. February 05, 2012 for Model Number lat9806aae My washer seems to be leaking on the spin cycle. More when water level is high, less when the water level is low. The tub cover has a band of clear silicone around it which appears to glue the upper and lower halves of the tub cover together. The leak appears to be coming from a short section of the silicone that was thinner after it was applied. I want to just apply additional silicone but am not sure if just any silicone will work. Could you advise me please?
1 Answer Hello John. You do not need to use silicone on the tub cover. If it is leaking, you will need to replace the cover and gasket 22001299 on the unit. The small crack will get larger and cause a flood if not replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...
James G. Williams December 27, 2011 for Model Number LAT23001AAE Our Maytag washer leaks at the top of the tub during the spin cycle. So we thought we needed a new seal to repair the leak. But the person I talked to on the phone said it might be that the tub was filling up to high. So what should we do ? Thank you.
1 Answer James, A quick, easy check for the water level, fill the washer on the highest water level setting. When the tub is full and agitation starts, open the lid and check the empty fabric softner dispenser, it should not be "floating" if it is, the washer is overfilling and you'll need to check the air dome hose for clogs or kinks, if not, you'll need to raise the top of the washer and check the tub cover tabs and seal for loose or damaged areas. Dan November 23, 2011 for Model Number LSE7806ACE My washer is leaking water, I checked all hose connections etc.,would the large rubber gasket on top of the tub possibly be faulty, leaking on spin cycle?
1 Answer Dan, Yes, if the tub bearing and tub seal 6-2095720 6-2040130 has develpped a leak, there will be water expelled from the tub through the center of the tub during a spin cycle. Have you removed the front panel ( 2, 5/16 hex head screws on the bottom corners of the panel, and swing the bottom out until the clips release from the top) and observed if that is where the leak is located ? Just be careful when you run the unit with the panel off, you could get hurt from the moving parts. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
