Tom February 25, 2020 for Model Number WTW7300DW0 Whirlpool Cabrio top loader The washplate (agitator on this model) is not working during normal wash cycle. No error codes shown. The tub appears to be moving, but not much. I remove the cap and then attempt to take the bolt which holds the washplate onto the shaft. It turns, but requires a log of effor, like the whole shaft is in a can of roofers putty - very thick and sticky. I can't get that bolt off. Other videos show the bolt coming off easily, but the washplate requires a bit of persuasion. I can't even get the bolt off. Is it possible that the clutch is broken and just letting the shaft spin? I don't want to go to the trouble of taking the unit outside where I can work on it and get access the 'transmission assembly', without having some confidence of being able to resolve the bolt holding the washplate down. Any suggestions? Thanks Tom
1 Answer Tom, the bolt securing the wash plate may have some Loctite on the bolt which can be causing the difficulty with the removal. The bolt should come out even with the Loctite as it is a light-duty Loctite that would be used. The slider W10734521 can be inspected for any indications of getting stuck in position. If the slider does not move freely, the gearcase shaft and slider will need to be inspected to identify which is causing the issue. Read More...
Scott January 04, 2020 i have a whirlpool cabrio washer WTW7000DW0. it needs bearings and seal. i have done many whirlpool/maytag washers but this one is totally different. without ruining anything i would like to service this unit but if it needs the whole gearcase ass'y then that would be a bit absurd. finding information on this washer is next to impossible. there must be some way to replace bearings and seal. thanks, scott

1 Answer Lorenzo, if the noise sounds like a metal on metal noise, similar to a roller coaster, then the most likely issue would be the gearcase assembly W11393685. If the noise is not a metal on metal sound but is more like a jet engine, then the most likely issue would be the rotor W10915701 and stator W10915700.
