Lowinda May 11, 2023 for Model Number WTW8000DW3 I have dissembled up to the point of trying to remove the gearcase which seems to be stuck. Used some lubricant on the gearcase but I am only able to move it about half an inch or so from the tub and then appears to lock. Is there a step I am missing? have tapped it lightly with a rubber hammer but am unable to break the seal. I am reticent to force it too hard in case I break something. Any advice on how to get the old gearcase out?

James May 10, 2023 for Model Number MVWB765FW3 Washer threw code F7 E5 and F7 E9. I ran diagnostics and spin and auger seemed to work in all speeds. When I manually spin the wash drum I was getting a scraping noise around 30% of the rotation. I removed auger and drum to check for coins, etc. Found nothing. Without Drum in, if I spin the spline, I get the same "frictiony" sound around 30% of the rotation. Is this the bearings and therefore do I need the W11390685?

Dan February 08, 2022 for Model Number MVWB765FC1 I have a 4-year-old Maytag (MVWB765FC1) top load washer. It recently started squealing on high-speed spin cycle only. All other cycles are fine with no abnormal noises. From research here it seems this may be due to a bad/worn gearcase. Fred November 15, 2021 for Model Number WTW7000DW0 Washer is making a chattering/ratcheting noise during the wash cycle, especially with heavier loads like towels. Repair tech came out and found the "ring of death" under the unit (showed me a picture), with some grease leaking from the gear case. Said I needed a new gc for $235. In reading other questions/reviews on the website, to me it sounds like the clutch or stator is what is making the actual noise. Question - the gear case doesn't come with the stator, rotor and other parts shown in the diagram, correct? Is it possible I just need to replace those parts and could use the existing gear case? 1 Answer Hello Fred, unfortunately, the tech is correct, once a gearcase W11393685 starts leaking its lubricant it is faulty. It has a set of internal gears that are likely also damaged at this point causing the noise. The electromagnetic clutch is only used for spin mode and the stator would not be able to make that noise.
